FUNimation Entertainment to Release the New Yu Yu Hakusho OVA

FUNimation Entertainment announced at its Yu Yu Hakusho Reunion panel at New York Comic Con that it will release the new Yu Yu Hakusho original video animation (OVA), including the episodes “Two Shots” and “All or Nothing,” with both English subtitles and an English dub. Justin Cook and Christopher R. Sabat, who played the characters Yusuke Urameshi and Kazuma Kuwabara in the earlier television anime’s English dub, participated in the panel and indicated that they will return to their roles.

FUNimation did not confirm a release date for the anime.

FUNimation Entertainment’s Announcements at Anime Expo

FUNimation Entertainment announced at its Anime Expo panel that its streams for the Fairy gone and Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life anime will continue on for both of the shows’ second halves in Fall 2019. The company also confirmed that its stream of the upcoming fourth season of the My Hero Academia anime series will premiere in Fall 2019.

FUNimation also announced that it will release a steelbook home video release for the “first season” of Yū Yū Hakusho, and it will also release the “first season” of the new Fruits Basket anime on home video with both a standard and limited edition, with pre-orders available soon.

Staff and Cast Announced for the New Yu Yu Hakusho Original Anime

A staff and cast announcement has been made for the forthcoming new original anime for Yu Yu Hakusho.

Director and storyboarder Noriyuki Abe is returning to work on the anime at Studio Pierrot.

Returning cast members include:

  • Nozomu Sasaki is Yusuke Urameshi
  • Shigeru Chiba is Kazuma Kuwabara
  • Megumi Ogata as Kurama
  • Nobuyuki Hiyama is Hiei

The anime will adapt the “Two Shot” bonus chapter from the manga’s seventh volume, as well as the manga’s penultimate chapter “All or Nothing.” The “Two Shot” chapter tells the story of how Kurama and Hiei met, while “All or Nothing” shows the main characters reuniting to solve a hostage crisis in the spirit world.
