Otakon Announces Yoh Yoshinari as Guest

Otakon has announced that animator Yoh Yoshinari will be a guest at their upcoming convention.

Yoh Yoshinari made his debut as chief key animator for Neon Genesis Evangelion. He has participated in many other titles such as Gurren Lagann as mechanical design, and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt as a concept artist. Upon becoming a full-time staff member of Studio Trigger, he produced his first full-length anime, Little Witch Academia, and participated in Trigger’s first television series Kill la Kill as main set design.

Otakon will be taking place at the Walter Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. from August 10-12, 2018.

AnimeNEXT Announces Guests

AnimeNEXT has announced that Yoh Yoshinari, Shūhei Handa, Shigeto Koyama, and Hiromi Wakabayashi will be guests at their upcoming convention.

Yoshinari debuted as a chief key animator on Neon Genesis Evangelion. His credits also include mechanical designer on Gurren Lagann, concept artist on Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, and set design on Kill la Kill. He made his directorial debut with the Little Witch Academia film, and he also served as the original creator and as a character designer.

Handa joined the anime industry as a GAINAX animator and moved to Studio Trigger for the Anime Mirai 2013 project. He has served as chief animation director for Space Patrol Luluco and character designer for the Little Witch Academia television anime. His other credits include Kill la Kill, Kiznaiver, and One-Punch Man.

Koyama debuted as the mechanical designer for Gainax’s Gunbuster 2: Diebuster OVA sequel, and is currently an animator and designer at Studio Trigger. He has worked on titles including HEROMAN, Eureka Seven, Gurren Lagann, Star Driver, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Rebuild of Evangelion, Kill la Kill, and Ancien and the Magic Tablet. He designed the character Baymax in the Big Hero 6 film.

Wakabayashi is a former GAINAX member who has collaborated on several works with Hiroyuki Imaishi. His work includes design production for Gurren Lagann as well as the original idea, plot development, and directing participation for Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. For Kill la Kill, Wakabayashi wrote the script for episode four, directed the second ending sequence, and assisted and oversaw the design team as its creative producer. He also participated in story development for Little Witch Academia and Inferno Cop, and served as creative director for Space Patrol Luluco.

AnimeNEXT will be taking place June 9-11, 2017 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Little Witch Academia 2 to Premiere at Anime Expo

Anime Expo has announced that Studio Trigger’s Hiroyuki Imaishi and Yoh Yoshinari will appear at Anime Expo to premiere Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, the sequel to Little Witch Academia. The screening will be held on July 3, 2015 at 5:45pm and will be followed by a Q&A session with the guests. Imaishi and Yoshinari will also have autograph sessions during the convention.

Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade was funded through a Kickstarter campaign which surpassed its main goal of US$150,000 in five hours. The campaign ended one month later in August 2013 and accumulated US$625,518 (about 74 million yen) from 7,938 pledgers to reach its stretch goals. The final product is slated to run for 40 minutes.

Anime Expo will be taking place July 2-5, 2015 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.

Animazement Announces Three Animators From Studio Trigger as Guests

Animazement has announced that three animators from Studio Trigger will be guests at their next convention. The three animators are director Yoh Yoshinari, art director Yuji Kaneko, and animator Takafumi Hori.

Yoshinari directed Little Witch Academia, and has also worked on such anime as Kill la Kill, Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, Cat Soup, and Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Kaneko was the art director for Little Witch Academia and Kill la Kill, and has also worked on such anime as Naruto Shippuden, Basilisk, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Hori has worked on Little Witch Academia, Kill la Kill, Metropolis, Summer Wars, and Redline.

Animazement will be taking place May 23-25, 2014 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
