Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha Now Download to Own

VIZ Media has announced that issues of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha are now download to own. Previously, Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha members could only view each issue for a one-year rental period. Members’ currently owned issues will no longer be expired, and previously expired issues will return to members’ accounts.

VIZ is also including a SJ Alpha Yearbook 2013 Digital Edition as a free gift to its members.

Shonen Jump Alpha Adds New Rurouni Kenshin Manga

VIZ Media’s Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha announced in its most recent issue that the publication will be adding the Rurouni Kenshin Reboot manga in its next issue, which will be released on May 21, 2012.

Rurouni Kenshin Reboot will be replacing Bakuman.; the final chapter of Bakuman. was published in the most recent issue of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha.

Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha Digital Manga Magazine Launches

VIZ Media’s Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha digital manga magazine has launched. The first issue is available now through VizManga.com, and it will also be part of an upcoming update to the VIZ Manga apps for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. Each new digital edition of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha includes the latest chapters of the manga being featured in the magazine two weeks after they debut in Japan’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

The first volume of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha features the following manga titles:

  • Bakuman. Chapter 162
  • Bleach Chapter 476
  • Naruto Chapter 569
  • Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan Chapter 185
  • One Piece Chapter 652
  • Toriko Chapter 171

In addition, the first volume also includes the first part of an exclusive interview with Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto.

And to continue the celebration of the launch of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha, VIZ has joined with Konami for a special offer for subscribers. Subscribers who sign up for an annual membership to Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha will receive highly collectable Yu-Gi-Oh! game cards four times a year. Annual memberships are available for $25.99. Single issues of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha can be read for four weeks for only $0.99. Subscribers will also receive an annual collector’s yearbook and access to exclusive content (which includes creator interviews and videos).

VIZ Media Announces January 2012 Digital Manga Releases

VIZ Media has announced their new digital manga releases for January 2012. These releases are available on VIZManga.com and the VIZ MANGA App for the Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

As part of the countdown to the January 30, 2012 debut of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha, they are releasing Weekly SJ Alpha “Issue Zero” and “Issue Origins” for free. Available in “Issue Zero” is the recently released-in-Japan chapters of Bakuman., Bleach, Naruto, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, One Piece, and Toriko. “Issue Origins” includes full chapter reviews of the first chapter for each series featured in Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha.

The “Shonen Jump Digital Warp” continues with the following titles:

  • Bleach Volume 52
  • One Piece Volume 63

Also being released in January 2012 are:

  • Black Bird Volume 12
  • Dengeki Daisy Volume 8
