Udon Entertainment Announces Details for Its Release of the Summertime Rendering Manga

Udon Entertainment has revealed the next step in its publishing plan for the hit supernatural mystery manga Summertime Rendering, by Yasuki Tanaka, including revealing the format, covers, and release schedule for the title. The title will debut in May 2022, in close proximity to the anime adaptation, scheduled for release in April 2022.

“We wanted to do something that had never been done in manga before,” said UDON Chief of Operations Erik Ko. “I love the story of Summertime Rendering, Tanaka-sensei has created such a compelling and unique mystery. With every chapter I finished I immediately wanted to start the next one! We think fans will feel the same way, and we hope this unique publishing plan will make fans, readers, and collectors very happy.”

Summertime Rendering Will Be Released As Six Omnibus Editions

  • Collecting the original 13 volumes of the Japanese edition into six English-language omnibus editions, which will contain all of the material from the Japanese editions, including author notes, color pages, and bonus material.

Summertime Rendering Will Receive both Hardcover and Softcover Releases

  • Fans will be able to collect the series in their preferred format, as all six omnibi will receive both hardcover and softcover editions, released in close proximity to one another.

Summertime Rendering Volumes 1, 2, and 3 will receive simultaneous hardcover-edition release in May 2022

  • The first half of the Summertime Rendering story will be published simultaneously, with Volumes 1, 2, and 3 releasing in hardcover in May 2022.

Summertime Rendering Volumes 4, 5, and 6 will receive simultaneous hardcover-edition release in July 2022

  • The second half of the complete Summertime Rendering story will be published simultaneously as well, with Volumes 4, 5, and 6 releasing in hardcover in July 2022.

Softcover editions will be released monthly beginning in May 2022

  • The softcover editions of Summertime Rendering will release monthly, beginning with Volume 1 in May 2022. The series will conclude in softcover in August 2022.

The series has received a new translation and new lettering

  • UDON’s edition of Summertime Rendering features a new translation and localization, and new lettering too. Plus some great surprises still to be revealed.

About Summertime Rendering:

After tragedy strikes the life of a young man named Shinpei, he is called back to his hometown on the remote island of Higotoshima. But something sinister awaits him on the island, and a chilling sequence of events unfolds that will have dire consequences for Shinpei, for Japan, and for the entire world.

Summertime Rendering was originally published digitally on Shueisha’s digital magazine Shonen Jump+ and on the website MANGA Plus from 2017-2021. Udon Entertainment’s print edition will utilize a new English-language translation by Jocelyne Allen and new lettering by Janice Leung, Phil Christie, and Jeannie Lee.

It was recently announced that Summertime Rendering will receive an anime adaptation directed by Ayumi Watanabe, and series organized by Hiroshi Seko. The adaptation is scheduled to stream on Disney+ and other distribution platforms operated by Disney beginning in April 2022.

Udon Entertainment Licenses the Summer Time Rendering Manga for Print

Udon Entertainment has announced that it has licensed Yasuki Tanaka’s Summer Time Rendering manga for print. The company will begin publishing the manga in 2022, and the release will feature a new English translation and new lettering. The manga will be the first Shonen Jump series that Udon Entertainment will publish.

The story of Summer Time Rendering is described as:

A tragic incident calls a young man named Shinpei back to his hometown on the remote island of Higotoshima, Japan. But something sinister awaits upon his return, and a chilling sequence of events unfolds that will have dire consequences for Shinpei, for Japan, and for the entire world.

Tanaka launched Summer Time Rendering on Shonen Jump+ in October 2017. Shueisha launched its MANGA Plus online service with the English version of the manga in January 2019.

Udon Entertainment to Release Steins;Gate and Steins; Gate 0 Manga in Omnibus Editions With Alternate Cover Art

Udon Entertainment has announced that it will release its new, revised edition of Yomi Sarachi’s Steins;Gate manga in an 3-in-1 volume. There will be two versions: an exclusive hardcover Barnes and Noble edition that launches on October 21, 2021, and a softcover edition that ships in Spring 2022. The hardcover edition will feature alternate cover art by Yomi Sarachi and a fold-out poster featuring Kurisu Makise.

Sarachi serialized the Steins;Gate manga in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine from 2010-2013. Udon Entertainment had previously licensed and released the Steins;Gate manga.

The company also revealed that it will release exclusive Barnes and Noble editions of the first two “oversized” volumes, each collecting two of the original Japanese volumes, of Taka Himeno’s Steins;Gate 0 manga with new covers and bind-in posters.

Udon will release the Steins;Gate 0 manga with three “oversized” volumes, each collecting two of the original Japanese volumes. The company will release the first volume on September 21, 2021, the second volume on November 16, 2021, and the third volume on January 4, 2022. Andrew “Steiner” Hodgson, the original Steins;Gate visual novel translator, is translating the manga.

Himeno launched the Steins;Gate 0 manga in Young Ace in August 2017. The manga ended in February 2020. The manga serves as a prequel to 5pb.’s Steins;Gate 0 game.

Udon Entertainment Resumes the Release of the Daigo The Beast: Umehara Fighting Gamers! Manga

North American publisher Udon Entertainment has announced that it has resumed its release of Itaru Orikasa, Maki Tomoi, and Kengoro Nishide’s Daigo The Beast: Umehara Fighting Gamers! manga, with the second omnibus volume already available now.

In addition, Udon Entertainment revealed the release dates for the rest of the omnibus volumes. The third volume will ship in December 2021, followed by the fourth volume in February 2022, and the fifth and final omnibus volume in May 2022.

The story of Daigo The Beast: Umehara Fighting Gamers! is described as:

The Daigo The Beast manga explores the real-life events that built the fighting game community, and the strategies and play styles developed by Daigo and his fellow gamers. In Volume 1, Shinya Ohnuki, a gamer with prodigious talent, is drawn into the wild and wonderful world of fighting games after a chance meeting with Daigo. As they face off in iconic games like Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, and Darkstalkers, an enduring rivalry between Daigo and “Nuki” is born.

Udon Entertainment released the first omnibus volume in November 2017.

Udon Entertainment to Publish The Rose of Versailles Episodes Manga

Udon Entertainment announced at the San Diego Comic-Con 2021 virtual event that it will release Riyoko Ikeda’s The Rose of Versailles Episodes manga as a two-volume omnibus series in late Spring 2022.

The manga is described as:

More than 25 years after she finished the original series, Riyoko Ikeda-sensei started a new serialization in 2013 with stories focusing on various side characters that are happening in a parallel timeline as the original comics. This gives the readers a much more in-depth look at characters like Andre, Alan, Gerodelle, and Rosalie.

Ikeda published the first 16-page Rose of Versailles Episode one shot in Shueisha’s Margaret magazine in 2013, 40 years after the end of the original series. She then continued penning The Rose of Versailles short stories for Margaret. The 11th volume, the first volume for the series in four decades, shipped in 2014 with a compilation of the first four “episodes.” The 14th volume shipped in 2018 and confirmed that it was the last compiled volume for the “episodes” series.

Udon Entertainment Licenses the Persona 5 Mementos Mission Manga

Udon Entertainment has announced that it has licensed Rokuro Saitō’s Persona 5 Mementos Mission manga, and it will launch the first volume on December 7, 2021. The company is partnering with Barnes & Noble to release an exclusive edition of the manga’s first volume with brand new cover art by Rokuro Saito and a fold-out mini poster. The special version will only be available at Barnes & Noble in-store and online.

The story of the manga is described as:

The attempted poisoning of an influential CEO… Suspicious happenings at a local doctor’s clinic… Sketchy job requests at a back-street military shop… High schooler and phantom thieves leader Ren Amamiya tackles these mysterious incidents together with his trustworthy friends and the famous high school detective Goro Akechi.

Saitō launched the Persona 5 Mementos Mission manga in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Maoh magazine in October 2018. The manga ended with the third volume in July 2020.

The Rose of Versailles Volume 1 to Be Released by Udon Entertainment

Udon Entertainment to Release the First Volume of The Rose of Versailles Manga in December 2019

Udon Entertainment revealed at its panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 that it will release the first volume of Riyoko Ikeda’s The Rose of Versailles manga in December 2019. The remaining four volumes are scheduled to ship three or four months apart. The company said that all five omnibus volumes of the manga have been localized, and the localization is now waiting for Ikeda Production’s approval.

The company also stated:

Udon Entertainment Licenses the Stravaganza: The Queen in the Iron Mask Manga

Anime News Network is reporting that Udon Entertainment has licensed Akihito Tomi’s Stravaganza: The Queen in the Iron Mask (Stravaganza ~Isai no Hime~) manga. The first volume will ship on August 13, 2019 for US$19.99. Each omnibus volume will combine two volumes from the original Japanese release.

The story of the manga is described as:

A mysterious warrior travels the kingdom of Auroria, battling monstrous creatures and seeking adventure. Few know she is secretly Auroria’s young and inexperienced masked monarch — Queen Vivian. In a world where humans are not at the top of the food chain, the Queen in the Iron Mask must learn to use both her sword and her throne to protect her people from the dangers looming just beyond the city walls.

Tomi launched Stravaganza: The Queen in the Iron Mask in Enterbrain’s Fellows! magazine in 2012, and it later moved to Enterbrain’s Harta magazine. The series ended in June 2017.
