A-Kon Announces Toshio Furukawa as Guest

A-Kon has announced that anime voice actor Toshio Furukawa will be a guest at their upcoming convention.

Furukawa began his voice acting career in 1974. His credits include Piccolo in Dragon Ball Z, Portgas D. Ace in One Piece, Kageroza Inaba in Bleach, Kai Shiden in Mobile Suit Gundam, Ataru Moroboshi in Urusei Yatsura, Shin in Fist of the North Star, Sakamoto in Maison Ikkoku, Asuma Shinohara in Patlabor, Leon McNichol in Bubblegum Crisis, Hawks Eye in Sailor Moon Super S, and Asura in Soul Eater.

A-Kon will be taking place June 7-10, 2018 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Forth Worth, Texas.

Otakon Announces Toshio Furukawa, Shino Kakinuma, Katsuyuki Sumizawa, and Hideyuki Tomioka as Guests

Otakon has announced that voice actors Toshio Furukawa and Shino Kakinuma. The staff also announced that this year’s event will host scriptwriter and novelist Katsuyuki Sumizawa and Sunrise senior managing director Hideyuki Tomioka will be guests at their upcoming convention.

Toshio Furukawa began his voice acting career in 1974. He has voiced dozens of roles including Piccolo in Dragon Ball Z, Portgas D. Ace in One Piece, Kageroza Inaba in Bleach, Kai Shiden in Mobile Suit Gundam, Ataru Moroboshi in Urusei Yatsura, Shin in Fist of the North Star, Sakamoto in Maison Ikkoku, Asuma Shinohara in Patlabor, Leon McNichol in Bubblegum Crisis, Hawks Eye in Sailor Moon Super S, and Asura in Soul Eater.

Kakinuma’s roles include Naru Osaka in Sailor Moon, Videl and Pan in Dragon Ball Z Kai, and Rie Kakinoki in Kemonozume. She and Furukawa are married.

Both Sumisawa and Tomioka are attending Otakon as part of a collaboration with Sunrise.

As an anime scriptwriter, Sumizawa has handled series composition for Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Inuyasha, Yakitate!! Japan, Zoids/ZERO, and Tokyo Underground. He has also worked on scripts for Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Macross 7 and Yū Yū Hakusho.

Tomioka joined Sunrise as a part-timer on Taiyou no Kiba Dougram, and he later became a full-time producer. His production credits include Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Inuyasha, After War Gundam X, Turn A Gundam, Yakitate!! Japan, and Steamboy.

Otakon will be taking place August 11-13, 2017 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

AnimeFest has announced that anime voice actor Toshio Furukawa and anime voice actress Shino Kakinuma will be guests at their next convention.

Furukawa’s credits include Piccolo in Dragon Ball Z, Portgas D. Ace in One Piece, Kageroza Inaba in Bleach, Kai Shiden in Mobile Suit Gundam, Ataru Moroboshi in Urusei Yatsura, Shin in Fist of the North Star, Sakamoto in Maison Ikkoku, Asuma Shinohara in Patlabor, Leon McNichol in Bubblegum Crisis, Hawks Eye in Sailor Moon Super S, and Asura in Soul Eater.

Animazement Announces a Lot of Guests

Animazement has announced that the following Japanese anime voice actors will be guests at their next convention: Ai Nonaka, Tohru Furuya, Keiko Han, Ryusei Nakao, Shuuichi Ikeda, and Toshio Furukawa. In addition, the convention also announced that producer Shin Sasaki and MADHOUSE co-founder Masao Maruyama will also be attending.

Nonaka’s credits include Kyoko Sakura in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Konoka Konoe in Negima!, Fuuko Ibuki in Clannad, and Miko Saegusa in Kamichu!

Furuya’s credits include Amuro Ray in Mobile Suit Gundam, Pegasus Seiya in Saint Seiya, Kyosuke Kasuga in Kimagure Orange Road, Yamucha in Dragon Ball Z, and Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Kamen in Sailor Moon.

Sasaki has worked on such series as Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Mobile Suit Gundam UC, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, Gundam Build Fighters, and Buddy Complex.

Maruyama is one one of the co-founders of Studio MADHOIUSE. In 2012, he formed a new company called MAPPA, which has produced works such as Kids on the Slope, Space Brothers, and Space Dandy.
