To Your Eternity Anime Has Been Postponed to April 2021 (UPDATED)

NHK has announced today that the upcoming To Your Eternity anime, has been delayed from October 2020 to April 2021. Crunchyroll also revealed that the series would be coming to the service during the Virtual Crunchyroll Expo. Crunchyroll’s report about the delay for the To Your Eternity did not state a reason for it.

Anime News Network later reported that To Your Eternity has been delayed due to the anime’s production schedule being heavily affected by COVID-19.

The official synopsis of the series from Crunchyroll reads:

A lonely boy wandering the Arctic regions of North America meets a wolf, and the two become fast friends, depending on each other to survive the harsh environment. But the boy has a history, and the wolf is more than meets the eye as well…

Brain’s Base will handle the production of the anime with Mashiko Murata directing, Shinzo Fujita handling the series composition, and Koji Yabuno in charge of the character design.

Crunchyroll to Simulcast the To Your Eternity Anime

Crunchyroll has announced that it will simulcast the To Your Eternity (Fumetsu no Anata e) anime. The series is scheduled to premiere on Japanese television in October 2020.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Reiji Kawashima is Fushi
  • Rie Hikisaka is March
  • Aya Uchida is Parona
  • Rikako Aikawa is Pioran
  • Mitsuki Saiga is Hayase
  • Kenjiro Tsuda is The Beholder

Masahiko Murata is directing the anime at Brains Base. Shinzō Fujita is in charge of series composition, and Koji Yabuno is designing the characters.

The prizes awarded to each of the winning authors include a certificate, bronze statuette, and 1 million yen (about US$9,100). Ken Akamatsu, Tochi Ueyama, Oh! great, Atsushi Kase, Akiko Hitashimura, Yūji Moritaka, and Waki Yamato formed the selection committee.

19 Manga Rank on Young Adult Library Services Association’s 2019 List of Graphic Novels for Teens

The American Library Association’s (ALA’s) Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has released its 2019 list of Great Graphic Novels for Teens. Gengoroh Tagame’s My Brother’s Husband and Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon ranked in the Top Ten graphic novels this year.

Crunchyroll Adds Manga Simulpubs

Crunchyroll and Kodansha Comics have announced that Crunchyroll’s manga service will begin simultaneous publication of the APOSIMZ, Farewell, My Dear Cramer, Our Precious Conversations, To Your Eternity, Toppu GP, Wave, Listen to Me!, Drifting Dragons, and Grand Blue Dreaming manga. Crunchyroll will release new chapters of each manga worldwide (except Japan) as they launch in Japan.

In addition, Crunchyroll has revealed which catalog chapters of its current Kodansha simulpubs are still available to subscribers, and revealed that their territories will be expanded to worldwide outside of Japan. Crunchyroll announced last month that it will no longer offer the full back catalogs of Kodansha titles as part of its subscription service, except for Fairy Tail. The chapters that are available as of March 1, 2018 are:

  • Ajin: 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 54.2, 54.3, 55, 55.5
  • The Heroic Legend of Arslan: 47-55
  • Attack on Titan: 95-100
  • Fairy Tail: 1-257

Kodansha Comics’ Announcements at New York Comic Con

Kodansha Comics has announced during its panel at New York Comic Con that it has licensed Mitsurou Kubo’s Again!! manga. The company will begin releasing the series in print in February 2018.

The company will also begin releasing Akiko Higashimura’s Tokyo Tarareba Girls (Tokyo Tarareba Musume), Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka’s Grand Blue Dreaming (Grand Blue), and Yoshitoki Ōima’s To Your Eternity (Fumetsu no Anata e) manga in print. Grand Blue Dreaming and Tokyo Tarareba Girls are scheduled to be released in Summer 2018, and To Your Eternity is scheduled for 2018. Kodansha Comics has been releasing all three manga digitally.

In addition, Kodansha Comics will release a box set for Yoshitoki Ōima’s A Silent Voice manga in Fall 2017, as well as a complete box set for its Deluxe Edition releases of the Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell 1.5, and Ghost in the Shell 2 manga in November 2017.
