FUNimation Entertainment Showcases November 2021 Blu-ray and DVD Highlights

There is much to be thankful for in November 2021 when FUNimation Entertainment, the market leader in bringing anime to the forefront of audiences worldwide, sets out to release multiple exciting fan-favorite titles on Blu-ray and DVD. Releasing on November 2, 2021 is Fire Force Season 1, Fire Force Season 2 Part 2, and The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 1. And November 30, 2021 will be Akudama Drive.

The Rising of the Shield Hero 2 Anime Season Delayed to April 2022

The official website for The Rising of the Shield Hero 2, the second season of The Rising of The Shield Hero television anime series, has announced that the anime’s premiere date is delayed to April 2022. The anime was initially scheduled to premiere in October 2021, with Crunchyroll also scheduled to simulcast the anime.

Masato Jinbo is directing the second season at Kinema Citrus and DR MOVIE, replacing Takao Abo. Keigo Koyanagi is again in charge of series composition. Masahiro Suwa is again adapting Seira Minami’s original character designs for animation. Kevin Penkin is returning to compose the music.

The Rising of The Shield Hero anime series premiered with a two-hour special in January 2019 and ran for 25 episodes. Crunchyroll simulast the series as it aired in Japan. Crunchyroll had announced in 2019 that the anime would have a second and third season.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Japanese Voice Actors to Be Guests at Virtual Crunchyroll Expo 2021

Crunchyroll has announced that three of the main cast members of The Rising of the Shield Hero anime will be guests at Virtual Crunchyroll Expo 2021. The three cast members are Asami Seto (Raphtalia), Kaito Ishikawa (Naofumi Iwatani), and Rina Hidaka (Filo).

Crunchyroll also announced the return of the Crunchyroll Industry Panel, which will be full of sneak peeks, special surprises, and more, including news about Crunchyroll Original series High Guardian Spice.

Virtual Crunchyroll Expo brings together the global anime community to celebrate the best and brightest in Japanese animation. The event will be streaming from August 5-7, 2021.

Crunchyroll Announces Spring 2021 Anime Dubs

Crunchyroll has announced that there will be dubs in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German for Tokyo Revengers, To Your Eternity, I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years, and the continuation of So I’m a Spider, So What?. There is also an English dub on the way for Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 2.

In addition, Crunchyroll has announced more international dubs on the way for catalog titles.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 1 + 5 OVAs will receive new dubs in Portuguese, Spanish, and French.

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2 + 2 OVAs will receive new dubs in Portuguese and Spanish.

The first day of the “Kadokawa Light Novel Expo 2020” event has announced that the second season of The Rising of the Shield Hero anime will premiere on Japanese television in October 2021. Crunchyroll has also confirmed that it will simulcast the anime starting in October 2021 under the title The Rising of the Shield Hero 2.

Crunchyroll’s Announcements at Anime NYC

These are the announcements Crunchyroll made during its Anime NYC panel:

  • The company announced that it will stream English dubs for the Magical Sempai, If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord, Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun, and Ascendance of a Bookworm anime.
  • Crunchyroll also announced hat it will livestream its fourth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards, which will be held at Crunchyroll Headquarters in San Francisco on February 15, 2020. Tickets for Crunchyroll Expo 2020, which will be held on September 4-6, 2020 at the San Jose Convention Center in California, will go on sale on November 26, 2019.
  • It was announced that Crunchyroll is producing a behind-the-scenes documentary with the creators of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, and the video will debut on November 22, 2019.
  • The company is planning jewelry for The Rising of The Shield Hero anime.
  • The company’s mascot Crunchyroll-Hime is 3D for the first time on Kizuna Ai’s YouTube channel.

Crunchyroll announced at its own Crunchyroll Expo that The Rising of The Shield Hero anime will have an additional two seasons. The company did not announce a debut date for the new seasons.

Crunchyroll Expo to Host The Rising of The Shield Hero Staff and Hold the World Premiere of the Somali and the Forest Spirit Anime

Crunchyroll Expo has announced that it will host five cast and staff members from The Rising of The Shield Hero anime at at its upcoming convention.

The Rising of The Shield Hero opening theme song performers MADKID, Myne voice actress Sarah Emi Bridcutt, character designer Masahiro Suwa, music composer Kevin Penkin, and producer Junichiro Tamura will appear at the convention.

Event staff also announced that the convention will host the world premiere of the first episode of the Somali and the Forest Spirit anime on August 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. PDT.

Somali and the Forest Spirit will premiere in January 2020 after a delay from Fall 2019. Crunchyroll is co-producing the anime, and it will simulcast the series as it airs in Japan.

The English Dub of The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime Will Have a Two Week Delay on Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll has announced that its streaming of The Rising of The Shield Hero anime’s English dub will have a two week delay, beginning with the show’s 19th episode until the end of the show’s second half, due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The new schedule for the dub is:

  • Episode 19 – May 19, 2019
  • Episode 20 – June 5, 2019
  • Episode 21 – June 12, 2019
  • Episode 22 – June 19, 2019
  • Episode 23 – June 26, 2019
  • Episode 24 – July 3, 2019
  • Episode 25 – July 10, 2019

The series premiered with a two hour special on January 9, 2019 and will run for 25 episodes. Crunchyroll is simulcasting the series as it airs in Japan. The series was scheduled to launch on Crunchyroll with English subtitles on January 9, 2019, but Crunchyroll streamed the first 45-minute English-subtitled episode early on January 5, 2019.

Crunchyroll and FUNimation Entertainment originally announced plans to debut the English dub on January 9, 2019, the same day the show premiered on Japanese television. However, the staff announced on January 8, 2019 that the dub would be delayed. The first six dubbed episodes then premiered on February 13, 2019, and subsequent dubbed episodes debuted on the same days as the English-subtitled episodes until now.
