FUNimation Entertainment announced the English cast for the The Heroic Legend of Arslan anime during the company’s panel at A-Kon 2015.

The cast includes:

  • Aaron Dismuke is Prince Arslan
  • Ricco Fajardo is Daryun
  • Christopher R. Sabat is King Andragoras III
  • Stephanie Young is Queen Tahamenay
  • Cole Brown is Vahriz
  • Jarrod Greene is Kishward
  • Kent Williams is Kharlan
  • Mike McFarland is Narrator

Christopher Bevins is directing the dub.

FUNimation will make the English episodes available on Sundays at 5:00 a.m. EDT, but the company has not yet revealed a premiere date.

Kodansha Comics Announces Forthcoming Manga Releases

Kodansha Comics announced during the company’s Anime Boston 2014 panel that it will be releasing Hiromu Arakawa’s manga adaptation of the fantasy novel series, The Heroic Legend of Arslan. The company will release the series in print and digitally beginning in August 2014.

The story is described as:

As an unnaturally heavy mist descends on the battlefield, King Andragoras and his most valued officers confer among the bodies of dead and dying soldiers. When Daryoon, a young but highly skilled officer, voices his reluctance to send men into battle under these conditions, the king, unstable and enraged, banishes him.

Now, Daryoon’s new mission is to insure the safety of the King’s only son, Prince Arislan. Daryoon and Prince Arislan set off on a quest of their own, but they can’t succeed alone. They must convince both the Lord Narsus and his companion, the archer Elam, to join them in their quest to somehow help the soldiers win the war.

Now a group of only six they must somehow overcome an enemy of 300,000 soldiers. These unlikely soldiers have fate on their side, so anything can happen.

The company also announced it will be re-releasing the Mushishi manga series in digital-only format later in 2014.

Crunchyroll Announces New Manga Simulpubs

Crunchyroll has announced that the site will be starting three new simulpubs:

  • Ajin: Demi-Human by Gamon Sakurai: Crunchyroll launched Chapters 1 and 2 on March 15, 2014. The site will be adding additional chapters as quickly as they can until they catch up to the current chapters.
  • A Silent Voice – Koe no Katachi by Yoshitoki Oima: Crunchyroll will launch with the complete catalog on March 15, 2014, with the simulpub beginning on April 8, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. PDT.
  • The Heroic Legend of Arslan by Yoshiki Tanaka and Hiromu Arakawa: Crunchyroll will launch with the complete catalog on March 15, 2014, with the simulpub beginning on April 8, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. PDT.

The story of Ajin: Demi-Human is described as:

Immortals first appeared on the battlefields of Africa 17 years ago. Later, rare, unknown new immortal lifeforms began appearing among humans, and they became known as “Ajin” (demi-humans). Just before summer vacation, a Japanese high school student is instantly killed in a traffic accident on his way home from school. However, he is revived, and a price is placed on his head. Thus begins a boy’s life on the run from all of humankind.

A Silent Voice – Koe no Katachi is described as:

I wish we had never met. I wish we could meet once again.

A boy who can hear, Shoya Ishida, and a transfer student who can’t, Shoko Nishimiya. One fateful day, the two meet, and Shoya leads the class in bullying Shoko. But before long, the class shifts its target from Shoko to Shoya. Years later, Shoya feels strongly that he must see Shoko once again.
