FUNimation Entertainment Announces Four Titles Added to Its Streaming Catalog

FUNimation Entertainment has announced that it will add the following anime from Aniplex to its streaming service on November 26, 2019:

  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica
  • Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family
  • Silver Spoon
  • Granblue Fantasy: The Animation Season 1

Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Granblue Fantasy: The Animation will be available with an English dub and in Japanese with English subtitles. The other two anime will stream in Japanese with English subtitles.

Silver Spoon Manga to Return From Hiatus

The official website for Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has announced that Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon is returning from a hiatus that began in June 2018. The magazine also noted that the manga will enter its final arc in this year’s 49th issue of the magazine on November 6, 2019, and that the series is approaching its “climax.”

After returning from its previous hiatus in May 2018, the manga went back on hiatus in June 2018 after releasing four new chapters. The hiatus before that began in July 2017 and ended in May 2018. The manga released three chapters in July 2017, following another hiatus.

19 Manga Rank on Young Adult Library Services Association’s 2019 List of Graphic Novels for Teens

The American Library Association’s (ALA’s) Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has released its 2019 list of Great Graphic Novels for Teens. Gengoroh Tagame’s My Brother’s Husband and Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon ranked in the Top Ten graphic novels this year.

The 19 manga included on the list are:

Silver Spoon Manga to Go Back on Hiatus After Four Chapters

This year’s 29th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has announced that Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon manga will go back on hiatus in the next issue. The manga had just returned from its last hiatus with a new chapter in the 26th issue on May 23, 2018. The manga also received new chapters in the 27th issue on May 30, 2018, the 28th issue on June 6, 2018, and the newest issue on June 13, 2018.

The magazine did not indicate when the series will return.

Silver Spoon Manga to Get Another New Chapter on May 30, 2018

This year’s 26th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has announced that Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon manga will continue with a new chapter in the magazine’s next issue on May 30, 2018. This week’s issue also published a new chapter of the manga, the first since the manga returned to being on hiatus on July 26, 2017.

The magazine did not indicate that the manga is returning to regular serialization.

Silver Spoon Manga to Get a New Chapter on May 23, 2018

This year’s 25th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has announced that the next issue will publish the newest chapter of Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon manga on May 23, 2018. After returning from hiatus on July 5, 2017, the manga went back on hiatus after three chapters on July 26, 2017.

The manga’s 14th and most recent compiled book volume shipped in Japan on August 18, 2017. The 13th compiled volume revealed in June 2015 that the climax of the manga’s story will be “imminent,” though the series has taken several hiatuses since then.

This year’s 34th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has announced that Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon manga will go back on hiatus in the 35th issue on July 26, 2017. The manga had just returned from hiatus in the 32nd issue on July 5, 2017. The magazine has not yet announced when the series will resume.

The manga’s 13th and most recent compiled volume revealed in June 2015 that the climax of the manga’s story will be “imminent,” though the series has taken several hiatuses since then.

Silver Spoon Manga to Return on July 5, 2017

This year’s 31st issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is revealing that Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon manga will return in the next issue on July 5, 2017. The series went on hiatus in September 2016 after having just resumed in August 2016.

The series also returned from an eight-month hiatus in January 2016.

Silver Spoon Manga to Return in January 2016

This year’s 52nd issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has announced that it will publish the newest chapter of Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon in next year’s ninth issue on January 27, 2016. The manga went on hiatus in May 2015, shortly after returning from a hiatus in April 2015.

Arakawa announced in 2014 that she would slow the pace of her manga due to the health of a family member declining. The manga’s 13th compiled volume revealed in June 2015 that the climax of the manga’s story will be “imminent.”

Arakawa revealed in April 2015 that her family member’s medical treatment is finished, so she is relieved. She added that she can’t become negligent however, so little by little, she will continue to draw manga while watching over her family member.

Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon Manga Returns to a Short Hiatus

This year’s 24th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is revealing that Hiromu Arakawa is putting her Silver Spoon manga back on a short hiatus. The announcement adds that the WEB Sunday website and the magazine itself will announce when the manga will be published again. The issue further reveals that Shogakukan will publish the 13th compiled manga volume “around” June 18, 2015.

Arakawa announced in August 2014 that she would slow the pace of her manga due to the health of a family member declining. She had resumed the manga in the 21st issue on April 22, 2015.

Arakawa created Fullmetal Alchemist before penning Silver Spoon. Silver Spoon won 2012’s Manga Taisho (Cartoon Grand Prize) and Booklog awards, and 2013’s Shogakukan Manga Awards in the boys’ category.
