Akira Toriyama’s Kintoki Being Released Digitally in Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha

In the January 21 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha, Viz Media has announced that Akira Toriyama’s Kintoki one-shot manga will be published in the January 28 issue of the digital anthology.

Kintoki is about a boy named Toki who is the last of his tribe of humans; he also possesses monstrous strength.

Shonen Jump Alpha Adds One-Punch Man Manga

VIZ Media has announced in the January 14, 2013 edition of Shonen Jump Alpha that Yuusuke Murata and ONE’s One-Punch Man manga will be added to its lineup. According to the announcement, the manga will begin in the next issue of the digital anthology.

In addition, the January 14, 2013 issue also published the final all-color chapter of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan.

Shonen Jump Alpha for Free on Android With Ad Support

VIZ Media has announced that the Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha manga anthology will be available for free with ad support on Android devices.

Users need to download the VIZ Manga app and choose a number of promotional ad offers each week in order to read the issue. The offer is currently only available for Android users.

Shonen Jump Alpha Moving to Simultaneous Model “Soon”

According to Anime News Network, Alvin Lu, the Executive Vice President of Publishing at VIZ Media made an announcement at the ICv2 Conference at New York Comic Con: that the Shonen Jump Alpha digital anthology will be moving to a simultaneous model with Japan “very soon.”

Shonen Jump Alpha currently prints manga chapters two weeks after their print debut in Japan’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

VIZ Media to Publish SJ Alpha Yearbook 2013

VIZ Media has announced that the company will be publishing an SJ Alpha Yearbook 2013 printed collection book for those who attend New York Comic Con or are subscribers to Shonen Jump Alpha. VIZ will give out a free version of the yearbook at the Shonen Alpha Jump meet-up at the Kinokuniya Bookstore in New York City on Friday, October 12, 2012. The book will also be available at VIZ Media’s booth at New York Comic Con on October 13-14, 2012. Subscribers to Shonen Jump Alpha should receive the book by mail by December 2012.

SJ Alpha Yearbook 2013 will include an English translation of the one-shot, Otter No. 11, which is a spin-off of Bakuman. It will also include Sachie-chan Good!!, which is a one-shot manga by Masakazu Katsura and Akira Toriyama.

In addition, there will be an interview with Katsura and Toriyama, a Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game promo card, cosplay photos, fan art, a double-sided centerfold poster, and a recap of the conventions in 2012.

Shonen Jump Alpha Adds Two Manga Series

Shonen Jump Alpha announced at their San Diego Comic-Con panel that it will be adding two manga series to its lineup: Kazue Kato’s Blue Exorcist and Juzo Kawai’s Takama-ga-hara. Both series will begin to run weekly in the digital anthology beginning on July 23, 2012.

VIZ Media will be releasing Blue Exorcist Volume 8 as a digital-first exclusive on July 30, 2012. Shonen Jump Alpha will then host two chapters of the manga past volume eight in each issue starting on July 30, 2012. The speed-up will then catch up with the chapters in Japan on August 20, 2012. The August 20 edition of Shonen Jump Alpha will contain the latest chapter of Blue Exorcist two weeks after it runs in Japan, and the anthology will continue to host new chapters of the manga two weeks after they are published in Japan.
