Otakon Announces Hiromi Wakabayashi, Shigeto Koyama, and Hiroyuki Imaishi as Guests

Otakon has announced that Studio Trigger staff members Hiromi Wakabayashi, Shigeto Koyama, and Hiroyuki Imaishi will be guests at their upcoming convention.

Wakabayashi previously worked at Gainax, and was involved in the Gurren Lagann and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt anime. He also worked as assistant episode director for two episodes of The IDOLM@STER, and joined Studio Trigger in 2011. He was the creative producer for Kill la Kill, wrote the script for Inferno Cop, and was credited for story cooperation for the first two Little Witch Academia films. He was scriptwriter on some episodes of Space Patrol Luluco, and also directed and storyboarded the anime’s opening sequence. He is the creative producer on the upcoming Promare film.

Koyama debuted with his design work on the Diebuster anime, and since then has done design work on such anime as Eureka Seven, Gurren Lagann, Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit, Heroman, Star Driver, Inferno Cop, Kill la Kill, Captain Earth, Gundam: Reconguista in G, Space Patrol Luluco, The Dragon Dentist, Napping Princess, DARLING in the FRANXX, and Dragon Pilot: Hisone and Masotan. He recently designed the character Alexis for Trigger’s SSSS.Gridman anime, and drew character designs and mechanical designs for the studio’s upcoming Promare film.

Imaishi previously worked at Gainax, and made his animator debut as an in-between and key animator in Neon Genesis Evangelion. He went on to work as key animator and as animation director on select episodes of many other Gainax projects. He made his directorial debut with the Dead Leaves anime, and later became best known for directing the Gurren Lagann anime. Imaishi later left Gainax and co-founded Studio Trigger alongside other Gainax alumni. There, he directed the Kill la Kill and Space Patrol Luluco anime, and is directing the studio’s first feature film Promare.

Otakon will be taking place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. from July 26-28, 2019.

AnimeNEXT Announces Guests

AnimeNEXT has announced that Yoh Yoshinari, Shūhei Handa, Shigeto Koyama, and Hiromi Wakabayashi will be guests at their upcoming convention.

Yoshinari debuted as a chief key animator on Neon Genesis Evangelion. His credits also include mechanical designer on Gurren Lagann, concept artist on Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, and set design on Kill la Kill. He made his directorial debut with the Little Witch Academia film, and he also served as the original creator and as a character designer.

Handa joined the anime industry as a GAINAX animator and moved to Studio Trigger for the Anime Mirai 2013 project. He has served as chief animation director for Space Patrol Luluco and character designer for the Little Witch Academia television anime. His other credits include Kill la Kill, Kiznaiver, and One-Punch Man.

Koyama debuted as the mechanical designer for Gainax’s Gunbuster 2: Diebuster OVA sequel, and is currently an animator and designer at Studio Trigger. He has worked on titles including HEROMAN, Eureka Seven, Gurren Lagann, Star Driver, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Rebuild of Evangelion, Kill la Kill, and Ancien and the Magic Tablet. He designed the character Baymax in the Big Hero 6 film.

Wakabayashi is a former GAINAX member who has collaborated on several works with Hiroyuki Imaishi. His work includes design production for Gurren Lagann as well as the original idea, plot development, and directing participation for Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. For Kill la Kill, Wakabayashi wrote the script for episode four, directed the second ending sequence, and assisted and oversaw the design team as its creative producer. He also participated in story development for Little Witch Academia and Inferno Cop, and served as creative director for Space Patrol Luluco.

AnimeNEXT will be taking place June 9-11, 2017 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Kawaii Kon Announces Shigeto Koyama and Hiromi Wakabayashi as Guests

Hawaii anime convention Kawaii Kon has revealed that it will host Studio Trigger’s Shigeto Koyama and Hiromi Wakabayashi.

Koyama is an animator and designer at Trigger. He has worked on titles including HEROMAN, Eureka Seven, Gurren Lagann, Star Driver, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Rebuild of Evangelion, Kill la Kill, and Big Hero 6. Koyama has also provided design work for the No More Heroes video game franchise. This year, he directed his first short film “Obakechan” as part of Studio Khara’s “Japan Animator Expo” project. Koyama previously appeared at FanimeCon in 2012.

Wakabayashi has collaborated on several works with Hiroyuki Imaishi. His work includes setting production for Gurren Lagann as well as the original idea, plot development, and directing participation for Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. For Kill la Kill, Wakabayashi contributed plot development, directed the second ending sequence, and assisted and oversaw the design team as a creative officer.

Kawaii Kon will be taking place April 8-10, 2016.
