The 18th and 19th Episodes of the New Shaman King Anime to Be Delayed Due to the Olympics

The official website for the new television anime of Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga has announced that the 18th and 19th episodes of the anime have been delayed by two weeks, due to coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. The 18th episode will move from July 29, 2021 to August 12, 2021, and the 19th episode will move from August 5, 2021 to August 19, 2021.

A number of other currently airing anime series have also been delayed by two weeks for the same reason.

The new Shaman King anime premiered on April 1, 2021 and is ongoing. Netflix will stream the anime worldwide on August 9, 2021. The anime will have 52 episodes.

Milan Records Releases Shaman King Original Soundtrack Vol. 1 by Yuki Hayashi

Milan Records has released Shaman King Original Soundtrack Vol. 1 by composer and arranger YUKI HAYASHI. Available everywhere now, the album features music written by Hayashi for the recent reboot of the fan-favorite anime series, which will make its US debut on Netflix.

Those called “Shamans” can interact with gods and spirits compete for the position of “Shaman King” once every 500 years in the “Shaman Fight.” One of those shamans, Yoh Asakura, is fighting to be the “Shaman King” in this completely new TV animation.

Netflix to Begin Streaming the New Shaman King Anime on August 9, 2021

Netflix has announced during its Geeked Week livestream that it will begin streaming the new television anime of Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga on August 9, 2021.

Joji Furuta is directing the new anime at Bridge. Shoji Yonemura is in charge of the series scripts. Satohiko Sano is designing the characters. Yuki Hayashi is composing the music, with King Record as the music producer. Masafumi Mima is the audio director.

The anime premiered in Japan on April 1, 2021 and is ongoing. The anime will have 52 episodes.

Discotek Media Announces New Licenses

Discotek Media has announced that it has licensed the Shaman King, Lupin the Third: Part 5, Case Closed: The Darkest Nightmare (Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare), and Galaxy Cyclone Braiger anime.

The company will also release Super Dimension Century Orguss and Fatal Fury: The OVA Collection — the latter of which includes the Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf and Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle original video anime (OVA) — on Blu-ray Disc later in 2021.

The first part of Lupin the Third: Part 5, along with Case Closed: The Darkest Nightmare and Super Dimension Century Orguss, will launch on Blu-ray Disc later in 2021. Discotek will also release Shaman King and Galaxy Cyclone Braiger on standard definition Blu-ray Disc later in 2021.

Discotek’s standard definition Blu-ray Disc release of Shaman King will include all 64 episodes of the dubbed and edited version of the 2001 anime. The company will also launch a separate release of the anime’s uncut version in Japanese with English subtitles at a later date.

Discotek will release Lupin the Third: Part 5 on Blu-ray Disc in two parts. Both parts will include the subtitled and English-dubbed versions. The anime premiered in April 2018 and aired for 24 episodes.

The company’s release of Case Closed: The Darkest Nightmare, the 20th anime movie in the Detective Conan series, will include Japanese audio with English subtitles, as well as a new English dub. The film originally premiered in Japan in April 2016.

Discotek’s release of Galaxy Cyclone Braiger will feature all 39 episodes, uncut and in Japanese with English subtitles. The anime originally aired in 1981-1982.

The company will release all 35 episodes of Super Dimension Century Orguss on Blu-ray Disc in Japanese with English subtitles, and the release will also include the 17 English-dubbed episodes. The release will be remastered in 1080p. The anime originally aired in 1983-1984.

Discotek had the original film elements scanned to create a new 1080p Blu-Ray Disc release of Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf and Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle in Fatal Fury: The OVA Collection. Both OVAs will include English subtitles, the English dub, and several improvements, such as revised subtitles, original Japanese title sequences, and a restored missing scene from the second OVA. The release will also include a guided fan commentary by producer Brady Hartel and YouTuber Matt McMuscles.

    Kodansha Comics has announced that it will digitally release Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga on comixology on October 6, 2020. The company will then release the Shaman King spin-off manga Shaman King: Zero on October 13, 2020, Shaman King Flowers on October 20, 2020, Shaman King: Red Crimson. on October 27, 2020, and Shaman King: Super Star on December 8, 2020.

    The company delayed the digital release of Shaman King from its previous release date of July 28, 2020. The Shaman King: Zero, Shaman King Flowers, Shaman King: Red Crimson., and Shaman King: Super Star spin-off manga were previously scheduled to launch in August 2020.

    Kodansha Comics stated that the delays will not affect its planned physical release of Shaman King. The company will publish the manga in 11 three-in-one omnibus print editions from 2021 to 2022. The first two volumes will launch simultaneously in Spring 2021.

    Digital Releases of the Shaman King Manga Have Been Delayed

    The Fandom Post is reporting that the plans have fallen through and the upcoming digital debut for the Shaman King manga will not be happening as originally reported. The delay has also impacted the digital release for Shaman King Zero, Shaman King: Flowers, Shaman King: Super Star, and Shaman King: Red Crimson, all of which are now paused since they wanted to have everything out for fans as close as possible.

    No new dates are set for the main series and spin-offs yet but the company intends to update as soon as possible on it. This delay does not impact the physical print releases that are scheduled for 2021 and 2022.

    When released, the manga will be available digitally through Kindle as well as Amazon Prime and Kindle Unlimited.

    Kodansha Comics to Publish Four Shaman King Spin-off Manga Digitally in August 2020

    Kodansha Comics announced at its Shaman King online panel during the San Diego Comic-Con@Home digital event that it has licensed the following four Shaman King spin-off manga for digital release in August 2020:

    • Shaman King: Zero [Debut date: August 4, 2020]
    • Shaman King Flowers [Debut date: August 11, 2020]
    • Shaman King: Super Star [Debut date: August 18, 2020]
    • Shaman King: Red Crimson [Debut date: August 25, 2020]

    Kodansha Comics also announced that it will publish the Shaman King manga series physically in 11 three-in-one omnibus editions that will launch between 2021-2022. The first two volumes will launch simultaneously in Spring 2021.

    Comixology Originals and Kodansha USA Publishing will publish all of the Shaman King manga series digitally in English on July 28, 2020.     ComiXology and Kodansha Comics to Publish the Shaman King Manga Digitally on July 28, 2020

    comiXology Originals and Kodansha USA Publishing have announced they will publish all of Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga series digitally in English on July 28, 2020. Volumes 33, 34, and 35 will appear for the first time in English along with the first 32 volumes on Amazon’s Kindle Store and comiXology’s store, as well as the Amazon Prime, Kindle Unlimited, and comiXology Unlimited subscription services.

    The new release of the manga series will feature new cover art by Takei.

    Kodansha Comics will host an online panel to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the finale of the manga during the San Diego Comic-Con@Home digital event on July 23, 2020. The panel will feature Kodansha Comics’ Misaki Kido, Ben Applegate, and Ivan Salazar and will reveal more information on the new release of the manga.

    Two Manga Panels Announced for Comic-Con@Home

    San Diego Comic-Con International’s official website has announced that Kodansha Comics will host an online panel to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the finale of Hiroyuki Takei’s original Shaman King manga series. The panel will feature Kodansha Comics’ Misaki Kido, Ben Applegate, and Ivan Salazar.

    The panel will include “exclusive announcements [and] sneak peeks” for the Shaman King franchise. The manga series is inspiring a new anime series that will adapt all 35 volumes of the manga’s new complete edition.

    Shaman King debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1998. The series abruptly ended in 2004, although a reprinting of the manga revealed a “true ending” in 2009.

    In addition, VIZ Media will host a panel at the convention featuring manga artist Junji Ito. The artist’s most recent work Genkai Chitai (Disturbing Zone) launched on the LINE Manga service on April 15, 2020.

    Junji Ito won an Eisner Award for his manga adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
