Square Enix Manga & Books, Square Enix’s North American publishing division, has announced that it has licensed the Otherside Picnic and I Think Our Son Is Gay manga.
The publisher will release Eita Mizuno’s manga adaptation of Iori Miyazawa’s Urasekai Picnic (Otherside Picnic) novel physically and digitally on May 25, 2021. Mizuno launched the manga in February 2018 in Square Enix’s Shonen Gangan magazine.
Square Enix Manga & Books will release Okura’s Uchi no Musuko wa Tabun Gay (I Think Our Son Is Gay) manga physically and digitally on May 11, 2021. Okura launched the manga on the Gangan pixiv service in August 2019.
The February 2018 issue of Square Enix’s Shonen Gangan magazine has announced that Eita Mizuno’s manga adaptation of Iori Miyazawa’s Urasekai Picnic (Otherside Picnic) novel will launch in the magazine’s next issue on February 10, 2018.
The original novel is set in the modern world, but there exist doors that can take people to the “other side,” where strange urban legends and internet stories prove to be true. College student Sorawo Kamikoshi finds herself exploring one of these doors, and almost dies on the other side, when she is rescued by another girl named Toriko Nishina. Toriko is mysterious but skilled with a gun, and she seems to be searching for someone else on the other side. Together, both girls explore these doors to the other side.
The December 2017 issue of Square Enix’s Shonen Gangan magazine has announced that Eita Mizuno will launch a manga adaptation of Iori Miyazawa’s Urasekai Picnic (Otherside Picnic) novel this in Winter 2018.
Mizuno previously collaborated with writer Kyou Shirodaira on their mystery manga Spiral (Spiral ~ Suiri no Kizuna), which ended in 2005, and the Spiral: Alive prequel manga, which ended in 2008.
