Four Anime Films Submitted for Consideration for the Animated Feature Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the list of 32 films that have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 92nd Academy Awards. A maximum of five films from the list will receive the nomination.

These four anime films have been submitted for consideration:

  • Ayumu Watanabe and Studio 4°C’s Children of the Sea
  • Kitaro Kousaka, DLE, and Madhouse’s Okko’s Inn
  • Hiroyuki Imaishi and Trigger’s Promare
  • Makoto Shinkai and CoMix Wave Films’ Weathering With You

The Academy will reveal the nominations on January 13, 2020. The 92nd annual Academy Awards will be held on February 9, 2020.

Mirai Anime Film Nominated for the Animated Feature Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the nominees for the 91st Academy Awards. Mamoru Hosoda and Studio Chizu’s anime film Mirai received a nomination in the Animated Feature Film category. The other nominees in the category are Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Naoko Yamada and Kyoto Animation’s Liz and the Blue Bird; Nobuyuki Takeuchi, Akiyuki Simbo, and SHAFT’s Fireworks; Masaaki Yuasa and Science SARU’s Lu over the wall and Night is Short, Walk On Girl; Isamu Imakake and HS Pictures Studio’s The Laws of the Universe: Part 1; Studio 4°C and Ankama’s MFKZ; and Mari Okada and P.A. Works’ Maquia – When the Promised Flower Blooms were all submitted for the award.

The 91st annual Academy Awards will be held on February 24, 2019.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the list of 26 films that have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 90th Academy Awards.

Five anime films are on the list:

  • Mary and The Witch’s Flower
  • Napping Princess (Ancien and the Magic Tablet)
  • A Silent Voice
  • Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale

A maximum of five films from the full list of 26 will receive the nomination.

Three Anime Films Submitted For Animated Feature Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that at 16 films have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 88th Academy Awards to be held on February 28, 2015. Studio Ghibli’s When Marnie Was There, Mamoru Hosoda’s The Boy and The Beast, and the religious anime film The Laws of the Universe Part 0 were all submitted for the award. A maximum of five films from the list will receive the nomination.

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya Receives an Oscar Nomination

The nominations for the 2015 Oscars have been announced, and Studio Ghibli and Isao Takahata’s The Tale of the Princess Kaguya received a nomination for the Animated Feature Film category.

The 87th annual Academy Awards will be broadcast live from Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on February 22, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
