The Night on the Galactic Railroad Anime Returns to Tubi TV

The Fandom Post is reporting that the Night on the Galactic Railroad anime is returning to Tubi TV. The service had originally added this title in 2019, but it didn’t last long. The film has been re-added to the service in its English dub with closed-captions available.

Night on the Galactic Railroad was originally released in Japan in 1985.

Crunchyroll Adds Anime Titles Licensed by Discotek Media

Crunchyroll has announced that it has added the following anime from Discotek Media: Gokudo, A Wind Named Amnesia, Night on the Galactic Railroad, Earl and Fairy, Street Fighter – The Animated Series, and Key the Metal Idol.

Key the Metal Idol is streaming in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The other five anime are available in the United States and Canada.

Viewster Adds the Night on the Galactic Railroad and Street Fighter II Films

Viewster is now streaming the Night on the Galactic Railroad and Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie anime films. Both are available in Japanese with English subtitles and with the English dubs.

Kenji Miyazawa’s 1934 novel Ginga Tetsudō no Yoru (Night on the Galactic Railroad) inspired the 1985 anime film directed by Gisaburō Sugii.

Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie adapted CAPCOM’s video game Super Street Fighter II in 1994.

Discotek Media Announces More Licenses

In addition to acquiring the license for the first season of Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club, Discotek Media has also licensed:

  • Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Will be available subtitled on DVD later in 2015.
  • Earl and Fairy Complete Series: Will be released with Japanese language and English subtitles.
  • Galilei Donna: Will be available subtitled on DVD later in 2015.
  • Night on the Galactic Railroad: The company plans to release this in 2015 on DVD and later on Blu-ray. The release will include Japanese with English subtitles and the English version.
  • Night Warriors (Darkstalkers) Complete OVA Series: It will include the Japanese language with English subtitles and the English version.
  • Recently My Sister is Unusual: Will be available subtitled on DVD later in 2015.
  • Robot Carnival: It will include the Japanese language with English subtitles and the English version.
  • Sega Hard Girls: No further information is currently available.
  • Shining Tears X Wind Complete Series: Will be released with Japanese language and English subtitles.
  • Street Fighter II theatrical film: To be released on DVD and Blu-ray, with details to be announced later.
  • Strike the Blood: Will be available subtitled on DVD later in 2015.
  • Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust: To be released on DVD and Blu-ray, hopefully releasing in both formats in 2015. Full details will be released later.

Hawaii International Film Festival Screening Anime

The Hawaii International Film Festival has announced that it will be screening Shinji Aramaki’s CG-animated Captain Harlock film and the remastered version of the 1985 anime film, Night on the Galactic Railroad. At this time, the event’s organizers have not announced the screening times for the films.

The Hawaii International Film Festival will be taking place October 10-20, 2013.
