Atsuko and Toei Animation to Drop Anchor at New York Comic Con 2021 for Launch of New One Piece Collection

Anime’s beloved Straw Hat Pirates are invading New York City in October 2021 for the launch of a new fashion collection from anime lifestyle brand Atsuko and anime industry leader Toei Animation Inc. Atsuko X One Piece is an exciting new collaboration based on the internationally iconic One Piece anime series featuring cut and sew outerwear, shorts, headwear, T-shirts and accessories and more for men and women. Atsuko X One Piece will make its official debut at the major pop culture convention New York Comic Con 2021 (“NYCC”) which opens on October 7, 2021 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.

Eleven Arts to Premiere the English Dub of the Gintama The Very Final Anime Film at New York Comic Con

Eleven Arts has announced that it will premiere the English dub of Gintama The Very Final (Gintama: The Final), the new anime film of Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama manga, on October 9, 2021 at the New York Comic Con event.

FUNimation Entertainment Will Be at New York Comic Con 2021

FUNimation Entertainment has announced that it is returning to New York Comic Con from October 7-October 10, 2021.

New York Comic Con Cancels Its Physical Event and Announces a Digital Event

Reedpop has announced that this year’s physical New York Comic Con (NYCC) event scheduled for October 8-11, 2020 is canceled, and the organizers are partnering with YouTube to hold a digital event on the same dates. The event will feature streaming panels from “leading entertainment brands,” live Q&A sessions, autographs, videos, workshops, and a virtual marketplace.

This year’s NYCC was originally scheduled for October 8-11, 2020 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure Hits New York Comic Con

VIZ Media Announces Panels, Events and Retail Exclusives for New York Comic Con 2019

VIZ Media invites New York Comic Con (NYCC) attendees to catch a fun series of panels, events, autograph sessions and retail exclusives available for purchase at the company’s booth in the Exhibit Hall throughout the weekend.

The Official Shonen Jump panel kicks off VIZ’s events on Friday and presents the latest from Team JUMP. VIZ Media Announces New Publishing Acquisitions at New York Comic Con

VIZ Media announced a pair of new publishing acquisitions at New York Comic Con 2018, including The Art of Neon Genesis Evangelion: 2007-2017 and the shojo manga series Daytime Shooting Star.

A collection of artwork from the groundbreaking series will be presented in The Art of Neon Genesis Evangelion: 2007-2017. The comprehensive edition, which is set for release in Summer 2019, compiles a decade’s worth of bold imagery and vivid illustrations for the enduring property. Also announced was the acquisition of the shojo manga series, Daytime Shooting Star. The manga has drawn rave reviews and inspired a popular live-action feature film.

Additional information on each of these titles will be announced in the near future.

Dark Horse Comics’ Announcement at New York Comic Con

Dark Horse Comics announced the following during New York Comic Con:

  • The publisher will release Gou Tanabe’s H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness (Kūki no Sanmyaku ni te) manga. Dark Horse will release the manga in two double-sized volumes featuring more than 300 pages each. Each volume will retail for US$19.99. The English release will retain the metallic gold motif for the cover and the silver tip-in sheets. The first volume will launch in the direct market on June 12, 2019. Zack Davisson is returning from Dark Horse’s release of the H.P. Lovecraft’s The Hound and Other Stories manga to translate H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness.

VIZ Media’s Announcements at New York Comic Con

VIZ Media announced the following at New York Comic Con:

  • Megalobox will debut on Adult Swim’s Toonami block on Saturday, December 8, 2018 with an English dub.
  • The company has licensed Mika Yamamori’s Daytime Shooting Star (Hirunaka no Ryūsei) manga, and plans to release the first volume in Summer 2019.
  • VIZ Media also announced plans to release The Art of Neon Genesis Evangelion: 2007-2017 art book in Summer 2019. The book features movie art, concept art, collaborations with mobile video games, and fashion spreads.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly Director’s New York Comic Con Appearance Cancelled

FUNimation Entertainment has announced that Dragon Ball Super: Broly film director Tatsuya Nagamine will not appear at the New York Comic Con panel for the film as previously planned. He was not scheduled to appear at any other panels at the convention.

Instead, the panel will host Akio Iyoku, the head of Shueisha’s Dragon Ball department, and the film’s producer Norihiro Hayashida from Japan.

Masako Nozawa, the Japanese voice of Goku, and several members of the English cast are also attending the panel, which will take place from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018.
