GKIDS Licenses the Lupin III THE FIRST Anime Film

GKIDS has announced that it has licensed Lupin III THE FIRST, the first 3D CG feature-length anime film in Monkey Punch’s Lupin III franchise. The film will open in North America in 2020 with English subtitles and an English dub.

The film’s story focuses on Lupin teaming up with a woman named Leticia to steal the Bresson Diary, a treasure that even the first generation Arsène Lupin could not steal.

Lupin III THE FIRST opened in Japanese theaters on December 6, 2019.

Discotek Media Announces New Anime Licenses

Discotek Media has announced that it will release the Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko Mine’s Lie film, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils series, the Angel’s 3Piece series, and the AntiMagic Academy “The 35th Test Platoon” series on Blu-ray Disc.

The Blu-ray Disc release for Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko Mine’s Lie will ship on March 31, 2020. The release will feature the English dub and Japanese audio with English subtitles.

The Blu-ray Disc release for The Wonderful Adventures of Nils will ship on March 31, 2020, under the title The Wonderful Adventures of Nils Holgersson, and have all 52 episodes of the series in standard definition on two discs. The release will have the Japanese audio with English subtitles.

The Blu-ray Disc release for Angel’s 3Piece will ship on March 31, 2020. The release will have the Japanese audio with English subtitles.

The Blu-ray Disc release for AntiMagic Academy “The 35th Test Platoon” will ship on March 31, 2020. The release will have the Japanese audio with English subtitles.

Lupin the 3rd: Goodbye Partner Available for Digital Purchase on November 18, 2019

TMS Entertainment USA has announced that Lupin the 3rd : Goodbye Partner, the latest feature length installment of the long-running anime series, will be made available for purchase in the U.S. and Canada on all major digital distribution services including iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Digital starting November 18, 2019.

Discotek Media to Release the Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, and God Mazinger Anime on January 28, 2020

Discotek Media has announced that it will release Blu-ray Discs for the Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan anime and the Galaxy Express 999: Eternal Fantasy anime film on January 28, 2020. The company will also release standard definition Blu-ray Discs for the Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo and God Mazinger anime on the same day.

Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan will feature both series on Blu-ray Disc with both English and Japanese audio. The release will feature a 1080i upscale.

The Blu-ray Disc of Galaxy Express 999: Eternal Fantasy will have a new English dub by Sound Cadence Studios and feature 1080p high definition.

Bobobo-bo Bobo-bo will be released as a standard definition Blu-ray Disc set that includes all 76 episodes both in English and in Japanese with subtitles.

God Mazinger will be released on standard definition Blu-ray Disc. The release will include all 23 episodes of the 1984 anime in Japanese with English subtitles.

The company also announced that it will release the fourth and final DVD collection for the Lupin III: Part II anime on January 28, 2020. This set will include the anime’s final 38 episodes (118-155) in Japanese with English subtitles. Two episodes, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, will also have the original English dub.

TMS Entertainment to Screen the Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko’s Lie and Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon’s Blood Spray Anime Films at Anime Expo

TMS Entertainment has announced that it will screen the Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko’s Lie (Lupin the IIIrd: Mine Fujiko no Uso) and Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon’s Blood Spray (Lupin the IIIrd Chikemuri no Ishikawa Goemon) anime films at this year’s Anime Expo on July 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. The screenings will debut the English dubs for both films, and will be restricted to people at least 18 years of age.

Lupin the IIIrd: Mine Fujiko no Uso opened in Japan on May 31, 2019. The Lupin the IIIrd Chikemuri no Ishikawa Goemon (Lupin the Third: Goemon Ishikawa’s Spray of Blood) film opened in Japan in February 2017.

Anime Expo will be taking place July 4-7, 2019 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.

Discotek Media Announces New Licenses

Discotek Media announced during the company’s panel at Anime North that it has licensed the following anime:

  • Kemono Friends (first season)
  • Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales
  • Sorcerer Hunters (series and OVA)
  • Lupin III: the Last Job special
  • Honey and Clover (both seasons)

Discotek will release Kemono Friends: The Complete 1st Season on Blu-ray Disc, with Japanese language as well as a new dub that Sound Cadence Studios is producing. The release will include extras such as commercials, trailers, behind-the-scenes videos, episode commentaries, Friend bios, bloopers and outtakes, and no-credit openings and endings.

Discotek will reveal the full English dub cast at Otakon.

The company will release Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales on Blu-ray Disc in high definition with Japanese and English audio tracks. Extras and pricing will be announced at a later date.

Discotek will release Sorcerer Hunters: The Complete Series on SD Blu-ray Disc with Japanese and English audio tracks. The collection will include the 26-episode television series and the three-episode Sorcerer Hunters OAV.

The company will release the Lupin III: the Last Job special on Blu-ray Disc in Japanese with English subtitles.

Discotek will release Honey & Clover Parts I and II on home video, although the company stated it has yet to determine the format of the release. Discotek explained that it received new masters from the licensor, and will redo the subtitles in order to “avoid the burn-in and other issues that the older masters have.” The company is evaluating the masters to determine if the masters can be upconverted for Blu-ray Disc, or if they should be kept in standard definition.
