The Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles suburb of Alhambra is hosting an exhibition displaying manga art from Junko Mizuno’s Hansel and Gretel from August 18-September 9, 2012. The book’s original ink illustrations will be on display during the exhibition, and will also be available for purchase. Those who purchase an original ink page will get a free color print.
Hansel and Gretel is one of Mizuno’s manga retellings of classic fairy tales.
Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California is presenting all 120 pages from Junko Mizuno’s Cinderella on August 6, 2011; the exhibit will run until August 29, 2011. The book is a “mind-warping retelling” of the classic tale.
This is the first time that the original pages will be on display and available to fans. Each page will be accompanied with one-of-five special edition prints that are not available elsewhere. Mizuno will be in attendance on opening night to greet fans and sign copies of the book.
The opening reception is taking place on Saturday, August 6, from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is free, and there will also be a prize giveaway.
Female manga creator Junko Mizuno, the creator of the Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Princess Mermaid, and Pure Trance books will be at Comic-Con International. She is known for her grotesque yet cute illustrations.
Mizuno will be doing signings on Thursday, July 21-Saturday, July 23. In addition, Dave Castelnuovo and Allan Dye of Pocket God will be giving away a poster that Mizuno designed for them during their own signings.
