Several Anime to Compete at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival

The 52nd annual Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain has announced that Her Blue Sky (Sora no Aosa o Shiru Hito yo), the original anime film by the Super Peace Busters creative team, is nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film and Official Fantastic Competition awards this year.

In addition, the festival will screen the Human Lost, Ride Your Wave, and The Wonderland anime films in the Anima’t category, and it will also screen Weathering With You and One Piece Stampede in the Anima’t – Special Sessions category. The “Shishigari” short will screen in the Anima’t Shorts section.

The festival will take place from October 3-13, 2019.

Human Lost Anime Film to Screen in the United States in October 2019

FUNimation Entertainment has announced that it will screen the Human Lost anime film in U.S. theaters on October 22 and 23, 2019. Screenings on October 22, 2019 will have English subtitles, and screenings on October 23, 2019 will have an English dub.

Human Lost will open in the United States before it opens in Japan. The anime is scheduled for global release in October and November 2019. Anime Expo screened the North American English-subtitled premiere for the film in July 2019.

Human Lost won the the “Axis: The Satoshi Kon Award for Excellence in Animation” award as a Special Mention at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival on July 25, 2019. The film also screened out of competition at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 14, 2019.

Anime Winners at the Fantasia International Film Festival

Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival has revealed its winners for this year’s festival. Masaaki Yuasa and Science SARU’s Ride Your Wave film won the “Axis: The Satoshi Kon Award for Excellence in Animation” award for Best Animated Feature, while Fuminori Kizaki and Polygon Pictures’ Human Lost film won the the “Axis: The Satoshi Kon Award for Excellence in Animation” award as a Special Mention.

Ride Your Wave opened in Japan on June 21, 2019 and ranked at #9 in its opening weekend. The film won the Best Animation Film award at the Shanghai International Film Festival’s Golden Goblet Awards in June 2019.

FUNimation Entertainment will screen the Human Lost film in theaters in the United States in Fall 2019 before it opens in Japan. The anime is scheduled for global release in October and November of 2019. Anime Expo screened the North American English-subtitled premiere for the film.
