HBO Max Adds the Death Note, Hunter x Hunter, Food Wars!, and Tower of God Anime

The HBO Max streaming service added the Death Note, Hunter x Hunter, Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fourth Plate, and Tower of God anime in June 2020.

The service added all 37 episodes of Death Note on June 16, 2020, the first 99 episodes of the 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime on June 23, 2020, and Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fourth Plate (the fourth season of Food Wars!) on June 30, 2020. The service added the Tower of God anime on June 19, 2020, and it is adding episodes on a delayed schedule after they premiere on Crunchyroll.

HBO Max launched on May 27, 2020. Crunchyroll offered 17 anime series at launch, and it will offer more anime for HBO Max every quarter. The service had previously revealed that the Hunter x Hunter and Death Note anime would be available on the service within one year after its launch.

Food Wars! Anime to Resume on July 3, 2020

The official website for Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate<, the fifth season of the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime, has announced that the anime will resume on July 3, 2020. The website reported earlier in May 2020 that future new episodes would be delayed further “until July or later” due to the effects of COVID-19.

Food Wars! was first delayed in mid-April 2020. The anime premiered on April 10, 2020, and Crunchyroll is simulcasting the series as it airs.

Food Wars! Anime Will Not Resume Until July 2020 or Later Due to COVID-19

The official website for Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate, the fifth season of the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime, has announced that Episode 3 and later episodes will be delayed further “until July or later” due to the effects of COVID-19. Unlike the Japanese version of the announcement, the English version simply states, “til July 2020.” Japanese broadcasters will continue their reruns of episodes from Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fourth Plate.

Food Wars! was first delayed in mid-April 2020. The series premiered on April 10, 2020, and Crunchyroll was simulcasting it as it aired.

Food Wars! Anime Delays New Episodes Due to COVID-19

The official website for Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate, the fifth season of the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime, has announced that episode 3 and later episodes have been delayed due to the effects of COVID-19.

Tokyo MX and BS11 will run the following episodes over the next three weeks:

  • April 24, 2020: Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fourth Plate Episode 1
  • May 1, 2020: Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fourth Plate Episode 2
  • May 8, 2020: Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fourth Plate Episode 3

The anime’s website and Twitter account will announce future television broadcast and streaming schedules when they have been decided.

Crunchyroll Announces More Simulcasts for Spring 2020 Anime Season

Crunchyroll has announced that it will simulcast the Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE Season 2 and The House Spirit Tatami-chan anime as part of the Spring 2020 season in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The site will begin simulcasting Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE Season 2, Sunrise’s latest Gundam Build project, on April 9, 2020 at 7:00 a.m. EDT.

Crunchyroll will begin simulcasting Rensuke Oshikiri’s mini anime project The House Spirit Tatami-chan (Zashiki-Warashi no Tatami-chan) on April 10, 2020 at 7:15 a.m. EDT.

The company also revealed that the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate anime will begin simulcasting on April 10, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. EDT and the Woodpecker Detective’s Office anime will begin streaming on April 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. EDT.

Crunchyroll to Simulcast the Fifth Season of the Food Wars! Anime

Crunchyroll has announced that it will simulcast the fifth season of the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime during the Spring 2020 season. The series will be available in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The fifth season of Food Wars! is scheduled to premiere on Japanese television on April 11, 2020.

Food Wars! Anime to Get a Fifth Season in April 2020

A stage presentation at the Jump Festa ’20 event on has announced that the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime is getting a fifth season that will premiere in April 2020. The anime will be titled Shokugeki no Sōma: Gō no Sara (Strong Plate, a pun on “Go” meaning “five”).

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fourth Plate (Shokugeki no Sōma: Shin no Sara), the fourth anime season based on Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki’s manga, premiered on October 11, 2019.

Crunchyroll’s Announcements at Anime NYC

These are the announcements Crunchyroll made during its Anime NYC panel:

  • The company announced that it will stream English dubs for the Magical Sempai, If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord, Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun, and Ascendance of a Bookworm anime.
  • Crunchyroll also announced hat it will livestream its fourth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards, which will be held at Crunchyroll Headquarters in San Francisco on February 15, 2020. Tickets for Crunchyroll Expo 2020, which will be held on September 4-6, 2020 at the San Jose Convention Center in California, will go on sale on November 26, 2019.
  • It was announced that Crunchyroll is producing a behind-the-scenes documentary with the creators of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, and the video will debut on November 22, 2019.
  • The company is planning jewelry for The Rising of The Shield Hero anime.
  • The company’s mascot Crunchyroll-Hime is 3D for the first time on Kizuna Ai’s YouTube channel.

SYNOPSIS: Young Soma Yukihira – who has honed his cooking skills while working as an assistant at “Yukihira,” the family eatery – has successfully entered Tohtsuki Fine Dining Academy, a cooking school for the ultra elite.
