Discotek Media Announces Anime Releases for December 2021

Discotek has announced that it will release the Ronin Warriors and Girly Air Force anime on Blu-ray Disc on December 28, 2021. The company will also release the Robot Carnival original video anime (OVA) on Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc on the same day.

Discotek’s release of Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers (Ronin Warriors) will include all 39 episodes and the three OVA sequels, for a total of 50 episodes. The release will also include the English Ronin Warriors dub. Discotek stated it undertook “an extensive remastering process … to ensure that the dubbed version would be included.” Discotek previously release the anime on DVD in 2015.

The release of Girly Air Force will include all 12 episodes in Japanese with English subtitles.

Discotek’s release of Robot Carnival will present the OVA for the first time in 4K/HDR10, and will include both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio presentations. The release will also include The Memory of Robot Carnival documentary. Discotek previously released the OVA on DVD in 2015, and on Blu-ray Disc in 2018.

Discotek Media Announces Releases for November 2021

Discotek Media has announced that it has licensed the Z/X Ignition for Blu-ray Disc release on November 30, 2021. The company will also release the Lupin III vs. Detective Conan The Movie and Urusei Yatsura: Only You anime films on Blu-ray Disc and the Kodocha and Saiyuki Reload anime on standard definition Blu-ray Disc on the same day.

Discotek’s release of Z/X Ignition will include all 12 episodes with English subtitles and with an English dub. The company previously released the anime on DVD in November 2015.

The release of Lupin III vs. Detective Conan The Movie will include an all-new English dub “starring the ‘classic’ Lupin the 3rd cast, as well as the all-new Case Closed theatrical movie cast.” The release will also include 2.0 and 5.1 surround audio mixes for both versions of the movie. Discotek previously released the film on DVD in 2015.

Discotek will release the Urusei Yatsura: Only You film with English subtitles and the English dub from the previous AnimEigo release.

The company will release the entirety of the Kodocha anime series, including the middle school portion of the series that has never before been released in the United States. The release will include the original music, including the original opening theme song. The release will come in two SD Blu-ray Discs, with the first release including the first 51 episodes and FUNimation’s English dub. The second set will launch in 2022 with subtitles only.

The release of Saiyuki Reload will include all 25 episodes, as well as Geneon’s English dub.

The company also announced that it will be releasing the Project A-Ko anime film on Blu-ray Disc on December 21, 2021. The remastered Blu-ray Disc release will use a Domesday Duplicator to recover video content from the LaserDisc release. The release will include English subtitles and the original English dub.

Discotek Media Announces Releases for October 2021

Discotek Media has announced that it will release Lupin the Third: Part 5, the complete first City Hunter series, and the third collection of the Hajime no Ippo anime on Blu-ray Disc on October 26, 2021. The company will also release the 2001 Shaman King anime and the first season of the Sgt. Frog anime on standard definition Blu-ray Disc on the same day.

Discotek will release Lupin the Third: Part 5 on Blu-ray Disc in one set including all 24 episodes with the subtitled and English-dubbed versions. The company had originally planned to release the anime in two parts. The anime premiered in April 2018.

Discotek’s standard definition Blu-ray Disc release of Shaman King will include all 64 episodes of the dubbed and edited version of the 2001 anime. The company will also launch a separate release of the anime’s uncut version in Japanese with English subtitles at a later date.

The third collection of Hajime no Ippo will include Episodes 49-75 (plus the unaired 76th episode) with English and Spanish dubs (except for Episode 76), the Hajime no Ippo – Champion Road special, and for the first time in North America, the Hajime no Ippo – Mashiba vs. Kimura original video anime (OVA) with subtitles only.

Discotek’s release of the first season of Sgt. Frog will include the first 51 episodes with English subtitles and with FUNimaton Entertainment’s English dub. Its overall release of the anime will include all 358 episodes in successive SD Blu-ray Disc volume releases by season. The anime series ran from 2004 to 2011, and it spawned five feature films. FUNimation released two “seasons” of the anime on DVD, after ADV Films had licensed but not released the anime.

The release of the complete first City Hunter Season 1 series will include all 51 episodes on Blu-ray Disc with English subtitles and 1080p high definition. The release compiles the content from Discotek’s original Part One and Two sets of the series. Discotek licensed the entire City Hunter anime franchise.

Discotek Media announced the following home video licenses and releases during its panel at Otakon:

In addition, Discotek announced that its planned Blu-ray Disc remastered release of the Project A-Ko film is scheduled to ship in 2021. The release will feature an “extensive remaster” of the film, with the original movie in both 16:9 and 4:3 versions. The release will also include improved audio on the English dub, and bonus content.

The company’s previously announced release for Lupin the Third: Part 5 will now be a single Blu-ray Disc release (instead of two separate releases as previously announced), including both Japanese audio with English subtitles and the English dub.

Discotek Media has announced that it will release Case Closed: The Darkest Nightmare (Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare), Super Dimension Century Orguss, Fatal Fury: The OVA Collection, and the second set of City Hunter 2 on Blu-ray Disc on September 28, 2021. The company will also release Galaxy Cyclone Braiger on standard definition Blu-ray Disc on the same day.

Discotek’s release of Case Closed: The Darkest Nightmare, the 20th anime movie in the Detective Conan series, will include Japanese audio with English subtitles, as well as a new English dub. The film originally premiered in Japan in April 2016.

The company will release all 35 episodes of Super Dimension Century Orguss on Blu-ray Disc in Japanese with English subtitles, and the release will also include the 17 English-dubbed episodes. The release will be remastered in 1080p. The anime originally aired in 1983-1984.

Discotek had the original film elements scanned to create a new 1080p Blu-Ray Disc release of Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf and Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle in Fatal Fury: The OVA Collection. Both OVAs will include English subtitles, the English dub, and several improvements, such as revised subtitles, original Japanese title sequences, and a restored missing scene from the second OVA. The missing scene will feature a new English dub. The release will also include a guided fan commentary by producer Brady Hartel and YouTuber Matt McMuscles.

The company’s second set of City Hunter 2 will include episodes 39-63. Discotek released the first Blu-ray Disc set of City Hunter 2 with the first 38 episodes with English subtitles. Discotek has licensed the City Hunter anime projects.

Discotek’s release of Galaxy Cyclone Braiger will feature all 39 episodes, uncut and in Japanese with English subtitles. The anime originally aired in 1981-1982.

Discotek Issues Call to Find the English Dub of Four Ninja Senshi Tobikage/Ninja Robots Episodes

Discotek Media has announced that, while it has mostly been able to recover the English dub of the Ninja Senshi Tobikage (Ninja Robots) anime for its upcoming release of the anime, it is has still not been able to track down the dub track for episodes 34, 37, 42, and 43 of the show. The company once again called for help in tracking down the dub track for those episodes, but if they cannot be located in time, Discotek Media will release the anime with an incomplete dub. Discotek stated if anyone has an angle on any home recordings of the show, to contact the company.

The company also issued a call for dub recordings of any of the episodes from episodes 21-43, as more sources may improve the quality of the dub track.

Discotek Media first issued a call for sources for the English dub in December 2020.

Discotek Media Announces New Licenses

Discotek Media has announced that it has licensed the Shaman King, Lupin the Third: Part 5, Case Closed: The Darkest Nightmare (Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare), and Galaxy Cyclone Braiger anime.

The company will also release Super Dimension Century Orguss and Fatal Fury: The OVA Collection — the latter of which includes the Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf and Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle original video anime (OVA) — on Blu-ray Disc later in 2021.

The first part of Lupin the Third: Part 5, along with Case Closed: The Darkest Nightmare and Super Dimension Century Orguss, will launch on Blu-ray Disc later in 2021. Discotek will also release Shaman King and Galaxy Cyclone Braiger on standard definition Blu-ray Disc later in 2021.

Discotek Media Announces Releases for July 2021

Discotek Media has announced that it will release the Black Rock Shooter, City Hunter 2, Mahoraba ~Heartful days~, and Lupin III: Return of Pycal anime on Blu-ray Disc on July 27, 2021. The company will also release the Fighting General Daimos anime on standard definition Blu-ray Disc on the same day.

The company will release the Black Rock Shooter television anime series with English subtitles and a new English dub by Sound Cadence. The cast includes:

Discotek Media Announces Releases for June 2021

Discotek Media has announced that it will release the Dear Brother, Memories, and Nyanbo! anime, as well as the second collection of the Lady Oscar: The Rose of Versailles anime on Blu-ray Disc on June 29, 2021. The company will also release the Video Warrior Laserion anime on standard definition Blu-ray Disc on the same day.

The company will release Dear Brother with English subtitles only. It had been previously noted that the license period for this anime is “unusually short,” and the company cannot assure that the license will be renewed after the first release.

Discotek will release the 1995 Memories anthology film with a newly revised subtitle translation. The 1080p Blu-ray release will feature English subtitles, a new English dub, a special preview video, “Cannon Fodder” animated storyboards, interviews, and an art gallery.

The Discotek release of Nyanbo! will be a subtitle-only release.

The Rose of Versailles release is an HD remaster of the series with English subtitles. The second collection includes episodes 21-40. The company released the first collection with the first 20 episodes on April 27, 2021.

Discotek will release all 45 episodes of Video Warrior Laserion on SD Blu-ray Disc in Japanese with English subtitles.

Discotek Media Announces New Anime Licenses

Discotek Media has announced that it has licensed the following anime: Dear Brother, Sgt. Frog, Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~, Nyanbo!, Magical Girl Ore, Kekkaishi, and Mitchiri Neko.

Discotek will release Dear Brother on Blu-ray Disc in Summer 2021 with English subtitles only. The company noted that the license period for Dear Brother is “unusually short,” and the company cannot assure that the license will be renewed after the first release.

Discotek’s release of Sgt. Frog will include all 358 episodes on SD Blu-ray Disc in 2021, with more information to be revealed later.

The company will release Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~ with English subtitles and the English dub by Media Blasters on May 25, 2021. The release will include both the television anime and OVA, and will include all the bonus features from the prior Media Blasters release. The anime will be a new upscale, and will have a revised subtitle track that will be “more careful” with gender pronouns.

The Discotek release of Nyanbo! is scheduled for Summer 2021, and will be a subtitle-only release.

Discotek’s release of Magical Girl Ore will be subtitle-only, and will be released on May 25, 2021.

The company will release Kekkaishi on Crunchyroll with both English subtitles and dub, and it will have a home video release later.

Discotek’s release of Mitchiri Neko will be subtitle-only and will be released in Summer 2021.
