VIZ Media Announces New Home Media and Publishing Releases for November 2019

VIZ Media announces the anticipated home media release of Season 2 of the hit Netflix Original Anime Series Castlevania. All eight episodes of Season 2 will be available on Blu-ray and DVD and conclude Trevor Belmont’s battle with Dracula.

The finale of Sailor Moon also arrives with the home media release of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Part 2. Available for the first time ever in the United States, catch the final, climactic 17 episodes of the series as a Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack or as a Standard Edition DVD set.

November’s publishing titles feature gorgeous new hardcover art books celebrating two of pop culture’s most iconic properties. Dragon Ball: A Visual History presents a definitive collection of art from Akira Toriyama’s iconic manga series. Transformers: A Visual History explores 35 years of the blockbuster franchise through rare imagery and insights from Transformers expert Jim Sorenson. The deluxe, hardcover release also comes in a special, limited edition that includes a collector’s box, variant cover and five bonus frame-ready art prints.

Two new manga series also launch in print and digital editions this month. A Tropical Fish Yearns for Snow is a tender, coming-of-age tale of a pair of high school girls who discover something special with each other in a small seaside town. Levius/Est is the sequel to Levius, the acclaimed sci-fi cyberpunk battle manga, and restarts Levius’s tale.

VIZ Media Announces Preorders for the Home Media Release of Castlevania Season 1

VIZ Media has announced pre-orders for the home media release of Castlevania Season 1.

Set to debut on December 4, 2018, the four-episode first season of the series is produced by Frederator Studios and has streamed to wide acclaim on Netflix. Castlevania will be available on Blu-ray, with an MSRP of $24.98 U.S. / $29.99 CAN, and on DVD, with an MSRP of $19.98 U.S. / $24.99 CAN.

Bonus features for the Castlevania Season 1 home media release include on-disc storyboards and art galleries for both the Blu-ray Disc and DVD. Exclusive Blu-ray extras include the sketch art-to-animation animatic sequences of Castlevania‘s most exciting moments.

VIZ Media Announces the Acquisition of Gothic Fantasy Anime Series Castlevania

VIZ Media expands its catalog with the acquisition of Season 1 of Castlevania.

VIZ Media announced the acquisition of Castlevania during its official panel held at Comic-Con International, one of the nation’s biggest annual pop culture conventions. VIZ Media has acquired home media distribution rights to the American anime-influenced series, which is produced by Frederator Studios. Castlevania Season 1 has streamed to wide acclaim on Netflix.

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself. In Season 1, Trevor Belmont, embittered and excommunicated, finds himself drawn into a battle for the survival of Europe – a region that has brought doom upon itself by taking away the one thing its greatest monster loved.

VIZ Media’s Announcements at San Diego Comic-Con 2018

VIZ Media made the following announcements during their panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2018:

  • VIZ Media announced that it has licensed Rumiko Takahashi’s Urusei Yatsura manga. The company will begin releasing the series in 2-in-1 omnibus editions in Spring 2019.
  • The company also announced that it will release Hayao Miyazaki’s The Art of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind book and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Picture Book in Spring 2019.
  • VIZ Media has announced that it has licensed the Pokemon Sun & Moon and Pokemon – Battle Frontier anime, as well as the Castlevania animated series.
  • The company also announced the digital release of the Pokemon Adventures manga volumes that it previously released in print. The company will begin releasing the series on its website, the VIZ Manga app, and other digital outlets on July 24, 2018. In addition, VIZ Media will begin releasing Pokemon movie adaptation manga digitally in January 2019.
