Otakon Online 2020 Announces Carole & Tuesday Online Panel Discussion

Shinichiro Watanabe, Motonobu Hori, and Celeina Ann to hold online panel discussion at Otakon Online 2020.

Otakon, the largest anime event in North America, was scheduled to take place in Washington D.C. in August 2020. However, due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, it will instead be held online on August 1, 2020 under the name “Otakon Online 2020.” Supervising Director Shinichiro Watanabe, Director Motonobu Hori, and singer-songwriter Celeina Ann will be holding an online panel discussion at this event. In addition to talking about the anime and taking questions, Celeina Ann will also be giving a performance. Since this will be an online event, fans from all over the world can tune in.

Carole & Tuesday Anime to Get Manga in May 2019

The May 2019 issue of Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine has announced that Carole & Tuesday, the new original anime by supervising director Shinichiro Watanabe and anime studio BONES, is inspiring a manga adaptation by Morito Yamataka that will debut in the magazine’s next issue on May 2, 2019.

The anime is scheduled to premiere on Japanese television on April 10, 2019.

More Cast Members Announced for the Carole & Tuesday Anime

More cast members have been announced for the forthcoming Carole & Tuesday anime:

  • Maaya Sakamoto is Crystal
  • Hiroki Yasumoto is Skip

It has also been announced that Alisa will serve as the singing voice for the character Angela.

Motonobu Hori is directing the anime, and Tsunenori Saito is designing the characters for animation. Canadian artist Mocky is composing the background music. Eisaku Kubonouchi as original character designer, Aya Watanabe as scriptwriter, and Flying Dog as in charge of music production.

Composers for the anime include: Jen Wood (This White Light), Maisa Tsuno (Akai Ko-en), Benny Sings, Lido, Evan “Kidd” Bogart, Tim Rice-Oxley (Keane), Eirik Glambek Bøe (Kings of Convenience), and Nulbarich. Ann and Nai Br.XX will perform both the opening and ending theme songs. Nulbarich is writing and composing the opening theme song “Kiss Me.” Benny Sings is writing and composing the ending theme song “Hold Me Now.”

The show will also premiere on Netflix on April 10, 2019 in Japan only, with new episodes streaming on Thursdays on Netflix. Netflix also has the exclusive worldwide streaming rights to the series, but the staff have not yet announced when the show will start streaming outside of Japan.

A cast announcement has been made for the forthcoming Carole & Tuesday anime series:

  • Miyuri Shimabukuro is Carole
  • Kana Ichinose is Tuesday
  • Sumire Uesaka is Angela
  • Akio Ohtsuka is Gus
  • Hiroshi Kamiya is Tao
  • Miyu Irino is Roddy
  • Mamoru Miyano is Ertegun

The winners of the global audition for the show were also announced. Nai Br.XX and Celeina Ann will perform songs in the show, with Nai Br.XX performing as Carole and Celeina Ann performing as Tuesday. The site stated that the anime is the “world’s first Japanese anime to have all English vocals” and teases a “soundtrack that transcends international boundaries.”

Motonobu Hori is directing the anime, and Tsunenori Saito is designing the characters for animation. Canadian artist Mocky is composing the background music.

The staff also includes Eisaku Kubonouchi as original character designer, Aya Watanabe as scriptwriter, and Flying Dog as in charge of music production. The anime is collaborating with synthesizer and keyboard brand Nord and guitar maker Gibson.

Composers for the anime include: Jen Wood, Maisa Tsuno, Benny Sings, Lido, Evan “Kidd” Bogart, Tim Rice-Oxley, Eirik Glambek Bøe, and Nulbarich.
