Manga artist Yuusuke Murata has announced on Twitter that his manga adaptation of the 1985 American science-fiction film Back to the Future has been cancelled. Murata explained that the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Web site’s editors did all they could, but they could not resolve the rights issues for several elements that would have appeared in the manga.
Murata announced the manga at the Ready Player One film “celebration event” in Tokyo in February 2018. Back to the Future screenwriter Bob Gale would have supervised the manga, which would have include story content not seen in the film.
