Back Street Girls Anime Listed on Netflix for December 12, 2018

Netflix is listing a page for the Back Street Girls -Gokudols- anime with a December 12, 2018 release date in the United States.

The story is described as:

Tough gangland retribution takes a disturbingly bright, shiny turn in this insanely guilty pleasure about three yakuzas who, as repayment for their failures, must undergo major surgery and become… a hot female idol trio. So what happens when they become the next big pop sensation?

The anime, which is based on Jasmine Gyuh’s manga, premiered in Japan on July 3, 2018. The manga launched in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine in March 2015, and ended on September 15, 2018. Kodansha Comics is publishing the manga in English.

Back Street Girls Manga to End on September 15, 2018

This year’s 41st issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine has announced that Jasmine Gyuh’s Back Street Girls comedy manga will end in the magazine’s 42nd issue on September 15, 2018. The manga was on hiatus from the 16th issue through the 28th issue, and resumed in the 29th issue in June 2018.

The story of the manga is described as:

Tough gangland retribution takes a disturbingly bright, shiny turn in this insanely guilty pleasure about three yakuzas who, as repayment for their failures, must undergo major surgery and become… a hot female idol trio. So what happens when they become the next big pop sensation?

Back Street Girls launched in Weekly Young Magazine in March 2015. Kodansha Comics is publishing the manga digitally in English.

Kodansha Comics to Add Three Digital Manga and Five Digital Yaoi Manga in August 2018

Kodansha Comics has announced three new digital-first manga licenses. The company also revealed five new yaoi manga licenses, all from Kodansha’s “Honey Milk” imprint in Japan. Kodansha Comics will release the five manga digitally on August 21, 2018.

The three new digital-first licenses are:

  • My Boy in Blue (P to JK) by Maki Miyoshi [debuts on August 7, 2018]
  • Back Street Girls by Jasmine Gyuh [debuts on August 14, 2018]
  • Peach Girl by Miwa Ueda [debuts on August 28, 2018]

The five yaoi licenses are:

  • Stray Bullet Baby by Kei Ichikawa
  • Keeping His Whims in Check by Pi
  • Intertwining Lives by KAZU
  • Key Ring Lock by ymz
  • Trap in a Skirt by Puruchome

Back Street Girls Manga Returns From Hiatus

This year’s 29th issue of Kodansha’s Young Magazine has resumed Jasmine Gyuh’s Back Street Girls manga. The magazine’s 16th issue had announced on March 19, 2018 that the manga was taking a hiatus.

The story of the manga is described as:

Back Street Girls launched in Weekly Young Magazine in March 2015. Kodansha Comics has licensed the manga for North America.
