AnimeNEXT Announces Banana Fish Staff as Guests

AnimeNEXT has announced that it will host MAPPA staff who worked on the Banana Fish anime, including director Hiroko Utsumi, character designer and animation director Akemi Hayashi, supervising anime director Ayumi Yamada, setting producer Erika Andō, and international developer Andrew Michael Upton.

The anime premiered on Japanese television in July 2018 and aired for 24 episodes. Amazon Prime Video streamed the series with English subtitles. Utsumi directed the anime at MAPPA, and Hiroshi Seko was in charge of the series scripts.

AnimeNEXT will be taking place at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey from June 7-9, 2019.

Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki Announced as Guests for AnimeNEXT 2018

AnimeNEXT has announced that creators Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki will be guests at their next convention.

Kamiyama began his career as a background artist when he joined Studio Fuuga in 1985. Among his anime works are Jin-Roh and Blood: The Last Vampire. He made his directorial debut with Mini Pato, but his most notable anime is his work on the TV series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex as the Director and Series Composition Writer. With 009 Re:Cyborg, he directed his first full 3DCG animated movie. Kamiyama’s works also include Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit, Eden of the East, and the recent Napping Princess: The Story of the Unknown Me.

Aramaki worked on numerous CG works, and is the one of the forerunners of 3DCG animation in Japan. While he has mainly worked as a Mechanical Designer, APPLESEED, which he directed in 2004, is a ground-breaking work and has influenced many creators worldwide. His other works include Starship Troopers Red Planet, Appleseed Alpha, and Captain Harlock. This will be Aramaki’s debut appearance at AnimeNEXT.

AnimeNEXT will be taking place June 8-10, 2018 at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

AnimeNEXT Announces Johnny Yong Bosch as Guest

AnimeNEXT has announced that anime voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch will be a guest at their next convention.

Bosch’s credits include Vash the Stampede in Trigun, Kaneda in Akira, Renton in Eureka Seven, and Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach.

AnimeNEXT will be taking place June 8-10, 2018 at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

AnimeNEXT Announces Yuri!!! on Ice Staff as Guests

AnimeNEXT has announced that it will host animators Junpei Tatenaka and Noriko Itou, animation producer Takahiro Ogawa, and color designer Izumi Hirose at its upcoming convention.

Tatenaka previously worked at Disney Animation Japan before working on anime, working on such films as Pooh’s Grand Adventure, Pocahontas 2, The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, and Mulan 2. He works as a freelance animation supervisor, and worked on such anime as Major, Ro-Kyu-Bu!, and Ace of Diamond. He worked with director Sayo Yamamoto on her “Endless Night” Japan Animator Expo ice skating short, and worked with her again as the lead figure skating animator in the Yuri!!! on Ice anime.

Itou is a freelance key animator and animation supervisor, and has drawn or supervised cuts on such anime as Saint Seiya Omega, Pokémon XY, Terror in Resonance, Yona of the Dawn, Punch Line, Kuroko’s Basketball, and Kids on the Slope, among many others. She was the prop designer and lead animation supervisor for Yuri!!! on Ice.

Ogawa works at the anime studio MAPPA, and has worked as a production desk manager and animation producer on such titles as Rage of Bahamut Genesis, Garo: Divine Flame, and Yuri!!! on Ice.

Hirose works at Production I.G, and her works include the color design for such anime as Attack on Titan, Dead Leaves, Ghost in the Shell Arise, Ghost In The Shell: The New Movie, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Steamboy, xxxHOLiC, and Guilty Crown. She served as the color designer for Yuri!!! on Ice.

AnimeNEXT Announces Tomochi Kosaka, Junko Yamanaka, and Reina Ueda as Guests

AnimeNEXT has announced that Tomochi Kosaka, Junko Yamanaka, and Reina Ueda will be guests at their upcoming convention.

Kosaka directed the television anime adaptation of Yayoiso’s ReLIFE manga. Previously, Kosaka served as episode animation director for series such as Yowamushi Pedal and Giant Killing. Kosaka’s other credits include key animation on Detective Conan and Hetalia Axis Powers: Paint it, White!

Yamanaka’s character design credits include ReLIFE, Detective Conan, Ninja Girl & Samurai Master, Kamisama Kiss, Servamp, Aoharu x Machinegun and The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior. She has also served as chief animation director on Kamisama Kiss 2, Servamp, and Aoharu x Machinegun.

Ueda’s anime voice credits include An Onoya in ReLIFE, Hane Sakura in Bakuon!!, Neyka in Blood Blockade Battlefront, Naru Sekiya in Hanayamata, Katra Paige in Inazuma Eleven GO Galaxy, Jasminka Antonenko in Little Witch Academia, and Ajime Kiki and Jewlulu in PriPara. She was a winner of the Best New Actress award at the 9th Annual Seiyū Awards in 2015.

AnimeNEXT Announces Guests

AnimeNEXT has announced that Yoh Yoshinari, Shūhei Handa, Shigeto Koyama, and Hiromi Wakabayashi will be guests at their upcoming convention.

Yoshinari debuted as a chief key animator on Neon Genesis Evangelion. His credits also include mechanical designer on Gurren Lagann, concept artist on Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, and set design on Kill la Kill. He made his directorial debut with the Little Witch Academia film, and he also served as the original creator and as a character designer.

Handa joined the anime industry as a GAINAX animator and moved to Studio Trigger for the Anime Mirai 2013 project. He has served as chief animation director for Space Patrol Luluco and character designer for the Little Witch Academia television anime. His other credits include Kill la Kill, Kiznaiver, and One-Punch Man.

Koyama debuted as the mechanical designer for Gainax’s Gunbuster 2: Diebuster OVA sequel, and is currently an animator and designer at Studio Trigger. He has worked on titles including HEROMAN, Eureka Seven, Gurren Lagann, Star Driver, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Rebuild of Evangelion, Kill la Kill, and Ancien and the Magic Tablet. He designed the character Baymax in the Big Hero 6 film.

Wakabayashi is a former GAINAX member who has collaborated on several works with Hiroyuki Imaishi. His work includes design production for Gurren Lagann as well as the original idea, plot development, and directing participation for Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. For Kill la Kill, Wakabayashi wrote the script for episode four, directed the second ending sequence, and assisted and oversaw the design team as its creative producer. He also participated in story development for Little Witch Academia and Inferno Cop, and served as creative director for Space Patrol Luluco.

AnimeNEXT Announces Akitaro Daichi as Guest

AnimeNEXT has announced that anime director Akitaro Daichi will be a guest at their upcoming convention. Daichi’s credits include Fruits Basket, Kodocha, Bokura ga Ita, Now and Then, Here and There, Kamisama Kiss, Gag Manga Biyori, DD Fist of the North Star, and Tonkatsu DJ Agetarō.

AnimeNEXT will be taking place June 10-12, 2016 at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
