Four Anime Films Submitted for Consideration for the Animated Feature Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the list of 32 films that have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 92nd Academy Awards. A maximum of five films from the list will receive the nomination.

These four anime films have been submitted for consideration:

  • Ayumu Watanabe and Studio 4°C’s Children of the Sea
  • Kitaro Kousaka, DLE, and Madhouse’s Okko’s Inn
  • Hiroyuki Imaishi and Trigger’s Promare
  • Makoto Shinkai and CoMix Wave Films’ Weathering With You

The Academy will reveal the nominations on January 13, 2020. The 92nd annual Academy Awards will be held on February 9, 2020.

Eight Anime Films Submitted for Consideration for the Animated Feature Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the list of 25 films that have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 91st Academy Awards. A maximum of five films from the list will receive the nomination.

Eight anime films are included in the list:

  • Naoko Yamada and Kyoto Animation’s Liz and the Blue Bird
  • Nobuyuki Takeuchi, Akiyuki Simbo, and SHAFT’s Fireworks
  • Masaaki Yuasa and Science SARU’s Lu over the wall and Night is Short, Walk On Girl
  • Isamu Imakake and HS Pictures Studio’s The Laws of the Universe: Part 1
  • Studio 4°C and Ankama’s MFKZ
  • Mari Okada and P.A. Works’ Maquia – When the Promised Flower Blooms
  • Mamoru Hosoda and Studio Chizu’s Mirai

The Academy will reveal the nominations on January 22, 2019. The 91st annual Academy Awards will be held on February 24, 2019.

Three Anime Films Submitted For Animated Feature Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that at 16 films have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 88th Academy Awards to be held on February 28, 2015. Studio Ghibli’s When Marnie Was There, Mamoru Hosoda’s The Boy and The Beast, and the religious anime film The Laws of the Universe Part 0 were all submitted for the award. A maximum of five films from the list will receive the nomination.

Shuhei Morita’s “Possessions” Short Shortlisted for Oscar Nomination

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that it has selected 10 animated short films to advance to the voting process for the 86th Academy Awards. Shuhei Morita’s “Possessions” short is among the 10 to advance.

“Possessions” is part of Katsuhiro Otomo’s Short Peace omnibus project that assembles “top creators at the leading edge of Japanese animation, exploring possible future avenues of expression.”

The Academy will announce its official slate of nominees on January 16, 2014.

Three Anime Films Submitted for Oscar Recognition

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 19 films has been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 86th Academy Awards, which will be held on March 2, 2014.

Three anime films are among the 19 submitted:

  • The Wind Rises
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie -Rebellion-
  • A Letter to Momo

The final nominees will be announced on January 16, 2014.
