The official Twitter account for the NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a anime has announced that Episodes Nine and beyond have been delayed due to the impacts on the production schedule with the spread of COVID-19 infections. As of this writing, no return date has been announced.

The anime previously went on a hiatus after Episode Three due to the impact of the increase in COVID-19 infections on its production schedule. The series returned from hiatus on February 18, 2023 with Episode Four.
