The official website and accounts for the Black Clover anime has announced that the premiere of the upcoming film, titled Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, is being postponed from March 31, 2023 to June 16, 2023 due to the impact of COVID-19 on production. A simultaneous worldwide release on Netflix and in Japanese theaters is still planned.

The Black Clover anime premiered in Japan in October 2017. The show was originally listed with 51 episodes, but it continued into a new season with Episode 52 in October 2018, and continued on again into a new season in October 2019. The show went on hiatus starting on April 28, 2020 due to the effects of the spread of COVID-19 on the production, and resumed on July 7, 2020 with Episode 133. The show’s Clover Kingdom vs. Spade Kingdom arc premiered on January 5, 2021.

Crunchyroll simulcast the series in Japanese with English subtitles, and FUNimation Entertainment streamed the show’s English dub.
