The Directors’ Guild of Japan has announced that film director Kazuki Omori passed away on November 12, 2022 due to acute myeloid leukemia. He was 70 years old at the time of his passing.

Omori was born in Osaka City in 1952, and had been making films since high school. In anime, he directed the 2000 film, The Boy Who Saw the Wind.

Omori was better known for working on several Godzilla films. He directed the 1989 film, Godzilla vs. Biollante. He also directed Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah in 1991, and wrote the 1992 film Godzilla vs. Mothra and the 1995 film Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.
