Anime Frontier Powered By Crunchyroll, the North Texas Japanese pop culture festival from the creators of Anime NYC, has announced its return to the Lone Star State, taking place December 2-4, 2022 at the Fort Worth Convention Center; tickets on sale now. The festival is a three-day celebration of anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture created with close ties to the creators and companies at the center – bringing North Texas audiences unprecedented Japanese cultural experiences rarely seen in the United States.
In its inaugural year, the 2021 festival attracted more than 13,000 enthusiastic fans from across the Southwest region by producing a top-notch event welcoming over 20 celebrity guests, exhibitions from internationally recognized Japanese entertainment publishers, major musical performances, and anime screening debuts. This year, the con is planning for expansion, including the arrival of 20,000 passionate attendees – nearly doubling 2021’s attendance – and welcoming showstopper musical guests from Japan. The success of Anime Frontier is due to its fervent commitment to bringing Texas fans an action-packed weekend unlike any other available in the state, including regional performances and activations previously only available in New York, Los Angeles, or Asia.
Anime Frontier 2022 will welcome Japanese rock band FLOW in their first U.S. show post-pandemic (VIP tickets are already sold out); fan-favorite voice actors like Adam McArthur and Zach Aguilar; and an exclusive performance by globally-beloved Japanese singer Yoko Takahashi. Takahashi is most known for singing the theme song to Hideaki Anno’s genre-defining anime saga, Neon Genesis Evangelion (often considered one of the top ten anime of all time). Anime Frontier will be the Japanese singer’s only US performance this year, with an upcoming show in Spain; this is her first performance in the country since 2015. This exceptional performance is perfectly timed as the final Evangelion film will premiere in the United States a week after the con.
When asked about the 2022 Anime Frontier Experience, Anime Frontier Show Director Peter Tatara said, “This year, we’re going even bigger – holding true to our promise of connecting Texas fans with Japanese pop culture like never before! Guests can expect even more Japanese publishers, artists, and talent that have yet to visit Texas. We couldn’t be more proud to bring exclusive performances like FLOW and the exceptional Yoko Takahashi to the con. We know Dallas-Fort Worth fans are hungry for these experiences, and we’re thrilled to create these long-lasting memories for our attendees at this year’s Anime Frontier.”
Anime Frontier’s title sponsor is the anime streaming platform Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll is the world’s most popular anime brand, connecting a community of over 120 million registered users and five million subscribers. Fans can expect exciting special features from Crunchyroll and other key brands in the anime and manga space rarely glimpsed in the state.
