The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, has announced the nominees for its 49th Annual Annie Awards. Mamoru Hosoda’s Belle, Ayumu Watanabe’s Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko, and Takayuki Hirao’s Pompo: The Cinéphile have been nominated in the Best Indie Feature category.

Belle also received nominations for Best FX – Feature, Best Direction – Feature, Best Production Design – Feature, and Best Writing – Feature.

Poupelle of Chimney Town received a nomination for Best Music – Feature.

The Annie Awards recognize outstanding achievement in animation. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on February 26, 2022.
