The Overlord Anime to Get a Fourth Television Season and a Film Project

The live special during a streaming marathon of the Overlord anime series has announced that a fourth television anime season and a brand-new anime film project, covering the Sei Ōkoku-hen (Holy Kingdom Arc), has been green-lit.

The returning staff includes Naoyuki Itou as director, Yukie Sugawara as the script supervisor, so-bin for the original character designs, Satoshi Tasaki as the character designer, and Madhouse for animation production.

The returning cast for the anime series includes:

  • Satoshi Hino is Ains
  • Yumi Hara is Albedo
  • Sumire Uesaka is Shalltear
  • Emiri Katō is Aura
  • Yumi Uchiyama is Mare
  • Masayuki Katou is Demiurge
  • Kenta Miyake is Cocytus

While the special did not announce the cast and staff of the new film project, the television anime’s cast members Hino, Hara, and Uesaka made the announcement, and presented messages from the television anime’s director and series script supervisor.

The first 13-episode Overlord television anime series premiered in Japan in July 2015. FUNimation Entertainment simulcast the anime series as it aired in Japan, and the company released the series with an English dub on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in November 2016. The second anime series premiered in January 2018 and ended in April 2018. Crunchyroll simulcast the second series as it aired, and FUNimation streamed an English dub. The third anime series premiered in July 2018. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime as it aired, and FUNimation again streamed an English dub.
