Six Anime Films Confirmed to Be Eligible for Consideration for the Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed that the following anime films are eligible for consideration at the 93rd annual Academy Awards:

  • Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train
  • Earwig and the Witch
  • Lupin III THE FIRST
  • ON-GAKU: Our Sound
  • Ride Your Wave
  • A Whisker Away

A maximum of five films from the full list of eligible films can receive nominations in the Animated Feature Film category. The Academy will announce the nominees on March 15, 2021.

The 93rd annual Academy Awards will be held on April 25, 2021, delayed by two weeks due to COVID-19.
