Anime Boston Cancels 2020 Convention

Anime Boston, the largest anime convention in New England, has announced that it will be cancelling its 2020 convention at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts on April 10-12, 2020.

On March 13, 2020 Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced a ban on all gatherings of 250 or more people in an effort to stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The ban is set with no current end date, until the governor announces otherwise. Given the uncertainty of the restrictions, Anime Boston has been cancelled for the 2020 calendar year. Additional information can be found at animeboston.com.

“We hope you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy,” said Kristen Leiding, Convention Chair. “We certainly hope to see you at the next Anime Boston, April 2–4, 2021.”

It is a shame to hear that events such as Anime Boston being canceled, but it is understandable on their decision. Fan Expo Dallas announced it would have to postpone their convention for June. But that could change too.

    Great article Lesley.
