Subtitles for FLCL Alternative/Progressive Are Coming in 2019

Jason DeMarco, senior vice-president and creative director for Adult Swim, has said on Twitter that the English subtitled versions of FLCL Alternative and FLCL Progressive are scheduled for sometime in 2019 “for sure.”

DeMarco explained, “Due to agreements with TOHO we had to wait on the subbed version, and now it’s been caught up in legal details.”

The subtitled versions were originally scheduled to debut on Adult Swim’s website alongside the English dubbed versions in June 2018 and September 2019. The subtitled release was delayed until November 2018, but has still not debuted. The initial delay was at TOHO’s request, and the reason given at the time was “to align with the release of the Japanese language versions.”
