Galaxy Express 999 Web Manga Depicts Tetsurō and Maetel’s Chats

Maco-Ching Ishihara has launched a new comedy manga based on Leiji Matsumoto’s Galaxy Express 999 (Ginga Tetsudo 999) on Kakao Japan Corporation’s Piccoma website. The manga is titled The Gentetsu 999, where “999” is pronounced “sankyū,” meaning either “three nines” or “thank you”).

Like the original story, the new manga features Tetsurō and Maetel as they travel across the galaxy by train, but it will focus on casual conversations they have. The manga will update on Mondays; six chapters are currently out.

The original 18-volume manga for Galaxy Express 999 ran from 1977-1981.
