Manga Creator Akino Mimura Passes Away

The official Twitter and Facebook pages of shōjo manga creator Akino Mimura have announced that Mimura passed away on July 30, 2018. She was 60 years old at the time of her passing.

Mimura revealed on Twitter on June 25, 2018 that she was hospitalized. She made her final tweet on July 27, 2018.

Mimura debuted with Watashi no Risō no Anata Sama in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōjo Friend magazine in 1977. She is best known for her School Days and Densetsu no Shōjo (Legendary Girl) manga. In addition to Bessatsu Shōjo Friend, Mimura’s works ran in Kodansha’s Me, mimi, and BE・LOVE magazines.
