Fireworks Anime Film Grosses US$522,600 in U.S. Theaters

Box Office Mojo is listing a total gross of US$522,600 for U.S. screenings of Fireworks (Fireworks, Should We See it from the Side or the Bottom?) as of July 15, 2018. GKIDS screened the film as a collaboration with Fathom Events on July 3, 5, and 7, 2018. It also opened a separate theatrical release on July 4, 2018.

The Fireworks anime film adapts director Shunji Iwai’s 1993 live-action drama of the same name, but adds modern elements.

The film opened in Japan on August 18, 2018, earning 170 million yen (about US$1.56 million) on its opening day. The film debuted at number three in the Japanese box office. The film has earned a cumulative total of 1.6 billion yen (US$14,192,000) at the Japanese box office.
