Manga Creator Caribu Marley Passes Away

The official Twitter account of Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Beam has announced that manga creator Caribu Marley passed away on January 7, 2018. He was 70 years old at the time of his passing.

Marley drew manga under numerous pen names, including Garon Tsuchiya, Hijikata Yūmine, Dark Master, Tsubakiya no Minamoto, and Marginal. Marley is perhaps best known for the manga Old Boy (published under the Garon Tsuchiya pen name) with artist Nobuaki Minegishi. The series ran in Futabasha’s Manga Action magazine from 1996 to 1998.

Under Caribu Marley, he wrote the Ao no Senshi manga with late artist Jiro Taniguchi, and Hard & Loose with illustrator Kaiji Kawaguchi. He also wrote the Hard Core: Heisei Jigoku Brothers manga with illustrator Takashi Imashiro.
