Anime Voice Actor Tamio Ohki Passes Away

Voice acting agency Mausu Promotion has announced that voice actor Tamio Ohki passed away on December 14, 2017 while being treated for an unspecified illness. He was 89 years old at the time of his passing.

Ohki made his debut in voice acting in anime in 1968, voicing the character of Shigeru Suzuhara in Kyojin no Hoshi. His other credits include Chief Aramaki in Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, Cozets in A Dog of Flanders, Professor Sakunji in Voltes V, General Miwa in Daimos, Dr. Franken in New Gigantor, Captain Tatsumi Tashiro in Gunbuster, Innocentis VII and Narrator in The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Ken-Goh in Eureka Seven, Nenji Kashiwazaki in Rurouni Kenshin: New Kyoto Arc, Yamaoka in Wolf Children, Tompetty in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Tokio in Hal, Kikunojō Tendō in Black Bullet, and Hoshi no Hito in planetarian: Hoshi no Hito.

He is also known for providing the Japanese dub voice for the character of Professor X in the X-Men films and Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
