Kodansha Comics’ Announcements at Anime NYC 2017

Kodansha Comics made the following announcements during their panel at Anime NYC 2017:

  • The company has licensed Yasushi Baba’s GOLOSSEUM manga.
  • Kodansha Comics plans to release box sets for Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan manga. The four-volume sets will include special bonus items that will be announced at a later date. Two box sets covering the first “season” of Attack on Titan will launch in April 2018, followed by a “Season 2” set in July 2018.
  • The company also announced six more digital manga licenses: Pitch-Black Ten by Kenshiro Sakamoto, Drifting Dragons by Taku Kuwabara, Living-Room Matsunaga-san by Keiko Iwashita, The Prince’s Black Poison by Jun Yuzuki, Lovesick Ellie by Fujimomo, and My Brother the Shut-in by Kinoko Higurashi.
  • Kodansha Comics also announced that it is hosting a drawing contest for Ken Akamatsu’s UQ Holder! manga. The winner will receive a Wacom digital drawing tablet and a chance to have a drawing printed inside the 13th volume of the manga in March 2018.
  • The company also announced that it will begin releasing Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka’s Grand Blue Dreaming manga in print in Summer 2018. Kodansha Comics began releasing the series digitally on September 12, 2017.
  • The company announced that its final volume (Volume 9) of Akiko Higashimura’s Princess Jellyfish manga will include several extras. The volume’s Amazon listing states that it will have more than 100 pages of extra content, including an unreleased color art gallery, interviews with the author and editor, a bonus unreleased manga, and a preview of Higashimura’s new Tokyo Tarareba Girls manga.
