Fundraising Launched for Vital Medical Treatment for Voice Actor Chris Ayres

Non-profit corporation Anime Twin Cities Inc. launched a fundraising campaign on November 16, 2017 for the medical expenses of voice actor Chris Ayres, who has been diagnosed with end-stage COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). The fundraiser seeks to raise US$25,000, primarily to assist in medical procedures and care. Ayres requires a double lung transplant to survive, along with two additional surgeries. Due to his hospitalization, Ayres has not been able to work since March 2017.

Ayres is best known for providing the English voice for Frieza in the Dragon Ball Z franchise. He has also voiced characters in Gantz, Tamako Market, Phi-Brain – Puzzle of God, Gintama, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Sengoku Basara, Initial D, and Tears to Tiara. Ayres has also served as ADR director and scriptwriter for numerous English dubs.
