Chiho Saitō will draw another new chapter for her Revolutionary Girl Utena (Shōjo Kakumei Utena) manga in Winter 2018. Shogakukan’s Flowers magazine will reveal more information at a later date.
The first new chapter, titled “Shōjo Kakumei Utena After the Revolution,” ran in the September 2017 issue of Flowers. The story takes place at Ohtori Academy after the end of the original manga’s final chapter, when a certain person visits the school. The magazine also published a a talk between Saito and Revolutionary Girl Utena anime director Kunihiko Ikuhara.
Be-PaPas — a group of industry professionals including Saito, Yoji Enokido, Shinya Hasegawa, Ikuhara, and Yūichirō Oguro — developed the Revolutionary Girl Utena manga and anime at the same time. Saito’s manga debuted in Shogakukan’s Ciao magazine beginning in 1996, and Shogakukan published the series in five compiled volumes. VIZ Media licensed and sold the manga in North America, and recently released a collector’s edition.
