AnimeFest 2017 has announced that it will screen Signal.MD’s Ancien and the Magic Tablet anime film, as well as Science SARU’s Lu over the wall and The Night is Short, Walk On Girl anime films.

Signal.MD staff members, including writer and director Kenji Kamiyama, animation director Motonobu Hori, mechanical designer Shigeto Koyama, creature designer Christophe Ferreira, and producer Yoshiki Sakurai are attending the convention. They will give an introduction to the film before the screening.

Science SARU staff, including director Masaaki Yuasa and producer Eunyoung Choi, are also attending the convention.

Ancien and the Magic Tablet opened in Japan on March 18, 2017 in 232 theaters nationwide, and ranked #9 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend. The film will screen in 40 countries and regions worldwide. GKIDS has licensed the film for the United States.

Lu over the wall opened in Japan on May 19, 2017, and won the top “Cristal for a Feature Film” award at the Annecy International Film Festival in June 2017.

The Night is Short, Walk On Girl opened in Japan on April 7, 2017. The film adapts Tomihiko Morimi’s novel of the same name.

AnimeFest is taking place at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel from August 17-20, 2017.
