Announcements at Sakura-Con 2017

Sakura-Con 2017 is taking place this weekend, and it’s expected that anime and manga companies will be making announcements during their panels at the event. Please watch this post over the weekend for updates.

Aniplex of America

  • The company announced that it has added the Katsugeki! Tōken Ranbu anime series to its Summer 2017 lineup, and plans to start streaming the series in July 2017.
  • The company announced the English cast for the anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day anime series.
  • Aniplex of America announced that it will release the Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic and Magi: The Kingdom of Magic anime on Blu-ray Disc box sets. Both sets will ship on June 27, 2017 with a store price of US$119.98. Each will include 25 episodes with Japanese and English audio, the textless opening and closing sequences, and the English trailer.
  • The company also announced that it has licensed the anime adaptation of TYPE-MOON and Yuichiro Higashide’s Fate/Apocrypha novels. The series is “coming soon to Netflix.”

FUNimation Entertainment

  • The company announced during its panel that it has acquired the license the for Hyou-ka anime. The first part will ship on home video on July 4, 2017. The release will have a new English dub as well as the Japanese version with subtitles.
  • FUNimation also announced the English cast for the Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches anime.

Yen Press

  • The company announced during its panel that it has licensed 14 manga titles and three light novel titles. It has licensed both the original light novel and the manga adaptation for The Saga of Tanya the Evil, the Acca 13 manga, the One Week Friends manga, the A Polar Bear in Love manga, the Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online manga, The Monster Tamer Girls manga, the Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School manga, the Though You May Burn to Ash manga, the Val x Love manga, the As Miss Beelzebub Likes manga, the Graineliers manga, the Laid-Back Camp Δ manga, the Angel Slaughter manga, the Regarding Reincarnation as Slime light novel, and the So I’m a Spider, So What? light novel. Yen Press also announced that it will release Sword Art Online Artworks, a full-color art book by Sword Art Online artist abec.
