Akiko Higashimura has revealed on her official Twitter account that she will end her Tokyo Tarareba Girls manga in the next issue of Kodansha’s Kiss magazine on April 25, 2017.
The story of the manga is described as:
“I spent all my time wondering ‘What if?’ Then one day I woke up and I was 33.”
Rinko doesn’t think she’s that bad-looking, but before she knew it, she was thirtysomething and single. Now she wants to get married by the time the Tokyo Olympics rolls around in six years, but… that might be easier said than done.
Higashimura launched Tokyo Tarareba Girls in Kiss in March 2014. The series is nominated for “Best General Manga” at this year’s 41st Annual Kodansha Manga Awards, and it was nominated in the same category in 2016. The manga ranked #11 on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga for female readers in 2017, and it ranked #2 on the list in 2016. Da Vinci magazine ranked the series #19 on its “Book of the Year” list last year. Kodansha Comics is publishing the manga digitally in English.
