AnimeFest 2017 Announces Five More Guests

AnimeFest 2017 has announced five more guests for its upcoming convention: Kenji Kamiyama, Motonobu Hori, Shigeto Koyama, Christophe Ferreira, and Yoshiki Sakurai. All five are staff members for the Ancien and the Magic Tablet anime film.

Kenji Kamiyama wrote and directed the film. His credits also include directing Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit, Eden of the East, and 009 Re:Cyborg.

Motonobu Hori served as the animation director for Ancien and the Magic Tablet. His credits also include working on BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad as a character designer, directing a number of episodes for the show, and serving as key animator for some cuts. He has worked as key animator, animation director, and storyboarder in a number of anime productions.

Shigeto Koyama served as the mechanical designer for the film. His other credits include Gunbuster 2: Diebuster, Eureka Seven, Gurren Lagann, Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit, the Rebuild of Evangelion films, and Star Driver. Koyama designed the character Baymax in the Big Hero 6 film.

Christophe Ferreira served as the creature designer for Ancien and the Magic Tablet. He started working in the anime industry at Telecom Animation, and studied under Yasuo Otsuka and Kazuhide Tomonaga. His credits include working as a key animator for Bleach, Oban Star-Racers, Soul Eater, Genius Party, and Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.

Yoshiki Sakurai was the producer for Ancien and the Magic Tablet. He previously collaborated with Kamiyama on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit as a scriptwriter, and also wrote scripts for Blood+, Giovanni’s Island, Otogi Zoshi, and Redline. He is also credited as chief producer on Cyborg 009 Call of Justice.

AnimeFest will be taking place August 17-20, 2017 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
