Anime Expo 2016 Announces Shoji Kawamori as Guest

Anime Expo 2016 has announced that anime director Shoji Kawamori will be a guest at its next convention. He will host a panel, and will also be available for autograph sessions throughout the event.

Kawamori is most famous for being part of the creative planning for The Super Dimension Fortress Macross anime series, and he designed most of the franchise’s iconic transforming “variable fighter” mecha. He oversaw most of the main installments in the Macross franchise, including the latest, Macross Delta.

Kawamori also created the Aquarion, AKB0048, and Arjuna series, and has contributed mechanical design work to such anime as Patlabor: The Movie, Patlabor 2: The Movie, Eureka Seven, Outlaw Star, and Ghost in the Shell. He is credited as the original creator of The Vision of Escaflowne, Basquash!, and Nobunaga The Fool. During his career, Kawamori has been an anime director, screenwriter, mechanical designer, and storyboarder.

Anime Expo will be taking place July 1-4, 2016 in at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.
