The April 2015 issue of Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine is announcing that manga creator Ryoji Minagawa will collaborate with Hitoshi Iwaaki to draw Perfect Soldier, a one-shot manga based on the Parasyte story. The one-shot is part of a monthly series of original “Neo Kiseiju” (Neo Parasyte) stories by different creators.
Iwaaki serialized Parasyte (Kiseiju) in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine from 1990 to 1995. Mixxine, the company that eventually became Tokyopop, published Parasyte in its Mixxine magazine and later in compiled book volumes. Del Rey republished the series in North America from 2007 to 2009, and Kodansha Comics republished the manga again from 2011 to 2012.
Parasyte will receive two live-action film adaptations by director Takashi Yamazaki. The first opened in November 2014 and the second is slated for April 25, 2015. The anime series premiered in October 2014, and Crunchyroll is simulcasting the series as it airs in Japan.
